I've got a friend who's just getting into folk music and is interested in hearing live music featuring fiddles - either performances or sessions. He's based in the Medways towns. Any suggestions I can pass on to him would be gratefully received,

cheers,

W

Look out for Ruff'n'Ready - Cari aka Fiddlebird is not megaflash but plays with sensitivity and melody.

And of course Ian Cutler of 'Hot Rats' and 'Feast of Fiddles' fame. Keep a look out for him

I'm sure that there wil be many tobe seen the coming weekend (from May 1st onwards) at the ROchester Sweep's fest. Try

Sat 2 May -

Irish session with Chris Taylor 3pm to 5 pm at the Royal Victoria and Bull hotel: You'll probably find Tracey (or is it "Stacey") anyway he's a bloke who plays banjo like a musical instrument, and also 5-string fiddle, in there. He's good.

Sat 2 May - outside session 8.45 pm to 11 pm at the Good Intent.

Sunday 3 May - Irish session as above

Sunday 3 May - outside session as above

Sunday 3 May - Hot Rats on the Boley Hill stage at 4.15

Sunday 3 May - Phoenix in Expectations at 8.45 (I think they still feature a fiddle)

Monday - HOt Rats at the Gordon House

Lots of cajun-style bands, I assume they will tend to have fiddles.

Knowing Kevin as I do, I think you can assume they are on the fiddle
