any thoughts on Northwood guitars as compared to Larrivee etc?

Never tried one. The UK distributor is in Morecambe. As I'm up that way next week, I might pop in and try one or two out. They're certainly up there with Larrivee on pricing - without some of the lower-end prices. My Larrivee OM was around £1,100 GBS (RRP), but they are variable in a way that Taylor (for example) are not. I tried several Larrivees in my local store (there are currently only a few Larrivee outlets in the UK) and price was no absolute indication of quality, I have to say. The one I bought was infinitely superior - for me - to some at 2 and 3 times the price.

Thanks Will - where did you get your Larrivee? I fancy an OM, but the Northwood was £2000.

I bought mine from GJs Guitar Emporium in Storrington, West Sussex. It's an OM-03RE - electro-acoustic - and is extremely good. You can hear it in action here at: Alabama Jubilee
