We'll be in Devon for a week from the 7th of June, nr Holsworthy (they tell me). Any recommendations for a nice friendly traditional singaround?

Come along to Bideford Folk Club at the Joiners Arms (up the hill, behind the Pannier Market). Bideford is about 16 miles North of Holsworthy. The club is on every Thursday evening - the 'official start' is 8.30 but we can't wait that long and usually start singing a bit after 8.00pm.

We do have guests occasionally but that week is a singaround. (Th 11th June) You will be made very welcome.

Bude Folk Club is on roughly every other Sunday at the Falcon Hotel (10 miles west of Holsworthy) It's also usually a singaround. I'll check the date out tomorrow. Will you be gone by June 14th?

Do PM me if you want any more info.

Sue

Cheers, Sue! I think we'll be off on the 13th, but if there's anything on the 7th it might be possible. I would imagine Thursday will be our best bet though.

Depending which way you go when you leave Devon, there'll be singarounds (free entry) from 1pm onwards on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 at Wimborne festival in Dorset. (Derek and I will be running them.)

Go to www. harbertonfolk for John Culf's comprehensive listings, also try web page for Flaxey Green.

I've just tried looking on the "Bude Folk" website for you but it only goes as far as the end of May (Bude Folk Festival is 29-31st May). The singaround dates are not entirely predictable so - as Cats suggested - it is worth PM-ing Hawker.

I hope you make it to Bideford on the 11th. Sadly I shan't be there to say hi, but whoever is running the evening always keeps a look out for new faces. (There are about a dozen of us who take it in turns to MC)

I'm dancing at 'The Gate to Southwell' in Notts the weekend before and coming home via Wimborne. Kitty - is it right that the Wimborne FF sings are in the White Hart in the Cornmarket?

Hope you enjoy your stay in the West Country.

Sue

Thanks for all your suggestions; hopefully we'll make it along to something! We're staying near Holsworthy - anything interesting we should be looking out for whilst we're in the area?
