The Virginia V is worth a visit even in silence, and should be a great place to sing. My favorite labor activity of the last thirty years was a Washington State Ferries strike which occasioned the use of a fleet of Puget Sound tourist boats and the one and only Virginia V as subs for the behemoth car ferries to Bremerton and Bainbridge Island. Two of the few of 14,000 commute trips during which I did not play the mandolin between 1979 and 2007, because it was such a hynotic experience to watch the mechanics of and about the triple-expansion stem engine. The strike could have gone on for a month by me!

Would this be a monthly gathering or an occasional happening?

Cheerily,

I believe that the sings are still monthly events, but not always on the Virginia V.

I can say that Felicia Dale and I did a Northwest Seaport Concert aboard the Virginia V and found it to be a terrific place for music -- great acoustics and the atmosphere is comfortable, nautical and friendly! We had a wonderful time.

I just want to know, William- was she docked or underway? Acoustics underway favor the engine.:) And by the by, I heard the last 20 minutes of your set at Folklife, and you two sounded better than ever. For those who have never heard you sing, that's better than good. Sorry about the thread drift...
