Subject: Tune Req: Brahms Polka From: GUEST,fiddler434 Date: 22 Jul 09 - 12:51 AM Years ago I use to play Brahms Polka. I can't remember it now--does anyone know where I might find a midi file for it? |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Brahms Polka From: Joe Offer Date: 22 Jul 09 - 01:57 AM This may not be quite as obvious as it seems on the surface. I searched for "Brahms Polka," and the best information I could come up with was this from the Fiddler's Companion: http://www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/BRAB_BRAM.htm BRAHMS POLKA. American, Polka. D Major. Standard tuning. AABB. Indeed, a melodic passage from the classical composer. Source for notated version: Vivian Williams (Seattle) [Phillips]. Phillips (Traditional American Fiddle Tunes - out of print), vol. 2, 1995; pg. 335. I take it that this is a polka based on a theme from Brahms, and not a polka written by Brahms. Am I correct? -Joe, intrigued- |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Brahms Polka From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Jul 09 - 02:01 AM refresh. Can anybody tell me where I can find a recording of this? And Fiddler's looking for a MIDI or sheet music... |
