North Wales Singer - Vicki Williams - illness

Some Catters will have already seen from the Bull Bay festival thread that Vicki Williams is quite poorly at the moment and is unable to perform there this weekend. She is one of my dearest friends, pretty much a Sister really and I know that there are many other UK Folkies who would like to send good wishes to her.

Vicki doesn't often post here but her MudCat name is Buddug and she (and lovely husband Trefor) are very well-known on the UK folk music scene and are regulars at many UK festivals, their website is here!

Without going into too much detail (though she's given me her permission to post this) she'll be starting chemo tomorrow after recovering from pneumonia and pleurisy and is sounding very positive about it. Her medical team are very impressed with her physical strength at this time which is a very good sign! I know the power of the MudCat positive thought machine and I'm certain that she will appreciate good thoughts and blessings towards North Wales for her.

I have a candle lit tonight and am sending love and hugs for Vicki and for Trefor too.

I too know the power of the Mudcat positive thoughts machine and allow me to be one small cog in that machine. I'm sending all the energy I can and some advice. Get the anti-nausea meds early and often
and stay as active as possible.

Thank you, thank you, my friends, all of you. Thank you so much, Hils. Don't know what to say - except - because Hils was kindly very restrained in her posting, I trusted her and I knew she'd get it right, and she did - I'm going to be the one to tell you more now.

I've been diagnosed with breast cancer, undergoing chemo at the N. Wales Cancer Centre at Bodelwyddan - it's not far from us and is state-of-the-art world-class, thank goodness. I'm being treated as an out-patient at the moment, and it hasn't knocked me about yet, so hopefully I can still get to Tenterden and Banbury. Being very positive, it's not going to get me, I won't let it.

Thank you all so much for the positive thoughts, I'm sure they're helping.

You're all wonderful, I love the folk world so much.

Loads of Love and thoughts winging their way to you across the Cheshire plain and over the Welsh mountains. I remember the shock we had when my brother got that dreaded diagnosis. He is now fully recovered and gigging as much as ever. He wrote one of the most beautiful tunes I have ever had the privilege to play. I will be playing it next for you dedicated to your swift recovery and spending a lovely weekend together (with Trefor of course) in Anglesey next August.
