interviews with several of the original performers were on NPR today
Mavis Staples, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and others. It would be great to be able to attend this historic event!! Great, even to have survived to hear of it happening

Adrien, there has been a slight misunderstanding. When talking to you yesterday my wife jokingly said "We're going to Newport this weekend".She was indeed joking. We never planned on going as we learned about it very recently and the trip is quite long. That being said, how we would have loved to go! The lineup is terrific! BTW, if you go, enjoy yourself at the Champlain Valley Folk Festival. We have gone there many times and it is a beautiful site and great festival.

And, www.mvyradio.com will have coverage, as well. Plus, you can access previous Newport Folk performances from 2005, 2006, 2007 in our archives.

FYI (and me coming on it after the fact!), the NPR coverage is still available online (and most, if not all will be available in their archive): start here.

After the opening number of the Sunday night closing set, featuring Pete Seeger, he talks about getting together with Peggy and Ewan and others and convincing the organizers to get some older traditional performers in on the show: Sunday night.

Speaking about "old-timers", also appearing for this year's 50th anniversary event: Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie, Ramblin' Jack Elliott...
