Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: Peace Date: 19 Aug 09 - 01:37 PM Get Bob Knight there. He's awesome: damned good writer and an incredible voice. |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: Tattie Bogle Date: 19 Aug 09 - 08:26 PM Agreed re Bob. Any room for some of us other minnows in the songwriting field? (Bob isn't a minnow, BTW!) Other than through Mudcat, how do you publicise it? Seems that us who only live a few miles away never get to hear about it soon enough! Heard about it too late last year, and then decided I would try to set up a database of dates/places of Songwriting Festivals in Scotland: so far, haven't got around to it: has anyone done it? |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: BobKnight Date: 20 Aug 09 - 06:14 AM Well... thanks Bruce (Peace) and you too Tattie Bogle, that's very kind of you to say so. I'd love to be part of something like this, but TB is right, we never get to hear about these things until the last minute. First I heard about it was when I read this thread last week. TB - sounds like a good idea to collate all the info on songwriting contests and events. It would be a great resource for us all. |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: GUEST,Rob the Roadie Date: 20 Aug 09 - 08:55 AM If you search for dogsdenmusic you can get further info and a provisional running order for the day. The highlights for me will be Andi Neate Band Bob Davidson Angie Wright Ciaran Dorris and.. of course the others are really good as well so just hope for good weather like last year. |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: BobKnight Date: 20 Aug 09 - 12:38 PM Dogsdenmusic: - says "2008" on the site - I presume that's a mistake, but it look like all the slots are already taken anyway. |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: BobKnight Date: 24 Aug 09 - 08:12 AM So, if I were to take a trip down some night, what would be the most suitable event to attend, since I notice quite a few sessions take place each week? |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: GUEST,Rob the Roadie Date: 25 Aug 09 - 06:54 AM Wednesday night is a regular session in the bar. Friday night is more a singaround up stairs in the Music Room Saturday and Sunday afternoon is ...weell it depends who turns up when and if. Sunday can be very good or no-one there. Its surprising I ve been there and nobody is playing then someone takes out a guitar or something then the next you know there are half a dozen or more other suddenly appear. |
Subject: RE: Taybank Songwriters Festival Sat Sept 5t From: BobKnight Date: 25 Aug 09 - 09:18 AM Thanks Rob, I'm more of a sing-around man, rather than tunes. Unfortunately I work most Friday nights, (cabbie) unless it's a paid gig, and then I'm always happy to desert the cab for music. Looks like I'll have to wait for next years "Songwriters Festival." |
