Subject: Looking For .... Help
From: GUEST,Mad dancer
Date: 10 Sep 09 - 05:43 AM

I know this is very unusual for Mudcat but ... I met a great lady at Whitby this year whilst dancing. She was the best dancer I'd seen up north and just wondered if anyone knew of her. All I know is that she was called Rose and she came from Oxford way I think. A long shot I know ...

Was she dancing in kit? If so, what did it look like?

In response to your thread MadDancer I feel sure the lady you might trying to seek maybe Rosie Crook who dances with Old Speckled Hen and another Apalacian side who's name escapes me. As with other respondees, she does indeed live nr Abingdon.

Just aware of her from Haddenham and you are right she's quite a fiesty dancer.

Good luck mate... wish 'twas me!

Good luck Mad dancer.

I don't know if these details are up to date, but some contact details for the 'Old Speckled Hen' mixed morris side I have found are as follows :

Marion Sadler : Tel: 01235 762886
                Email: marionsdollit@aol.com

Duncan McIntosh : Tel: 01491 834730
                  Email: r.browning@rl.ac.uk

Richard Browning : Tel:01235 768171
                   Email: r.browning@rl.ac.uk

These are contacts clearly posted on the internet for the side so I am sure they won't mind you contacting them to get Rosie's contact details once you tell them your story. Hope she is unattached!
She has obviously made a great impact on you and I admire your openness and bravery in starting this thread.

Even the man himself, Joe Offer, is working his wizardry to help you find her by posting the photos. Man, you better believe it, that's a really good omen for you!
He has even changed the thread title from "RE:Looking For....Help [Dancer at Whitby]" to "....Help [Dancer - Rosie]" and now "Help .. Rosie Crook" as this mystery woman is enticingly unveiled by the wonders of Mudcat and its' generous and glorious respondees. I've never noticed Joe do that before on Mudcat so you are blessed indeed. Well done Joe. Good work man.

By the way, is Little Robyn correct in identifying Rosie as being 4th from the right in Joe's photo of the side? If he is, she's a litte corker. No wonder you are smitten! You can tell that she is such a lively, vibrant and engaging soul, full of life and spirit.
I'm not sure why, but you can just tell that she is extra special. She shines. Bless!

I sincerely wish you the very best in your endeavours. Long may romance blossom and grow; It keeps the world going around. You have been kissed by Cupid and Cupid will show you the way (with a little help from people here). So I don't think it's a long shot Mad dancer; as I said, you never know and don't know when fate will shine on you and favour you with it's subtle caress. If Rosie is 'available' and she reciprocates your 'amour' she will light up the rest of your life and you will be one happy fellow!

What's that sound? Do I hear wedding bells ringing out during Whitby Folk Week next year?

Whitby has worked it's majic spell once again! Keep us all posted Mad dancer and as for the rest of you, watch this space!

Chris.
