Can anyone help me please.my nan used to sing a song about this-: Bye and bye Moses cried just as loud as all babies can. I dont remember most of the words but it was about how a princees found him and took him to be her own untill he became a man.i would dearly love to remeber how it went.

I found this on BaptistBoard.com:

Up and Down, Up and Down

Up and down, up and down
On the waters of River Nile,
Up and down, up and down
The cradle was rocked for a while.
By and by, Moses cried,
Just as loud as all babies can,
And a lovely princess took him for her own
Until he became a man.

Nothing else so far.
Mick

Thanks for looking Pearce.

Religious songs are not really my area, so I don't have many sources for them. I've searched for various bits of the song on the internet, but still only come up with the reference I found earlier. However, I have emailed the poster on the BaptistBoard forum to see if he can provide any more information.

I'm looking also. Surely among us all we will turn up something more.

I received a reply from the poster on the other forum and he doesn't know anything about the origin of the song or a source for it. He did, however, send me the melody, which I give below; maybe it will jog someone's memory.
