Andy Irvine is rarely off the road for very long! His international group Mozaik is one of those few groups that combine different cultures and really work! There's a rare chance to see them soon on their short tour of England and Luxembourg and longer tour of Ireland. The musicians from Ireland, America, Holland and Hungary are;
ANDY IRVINE: vocals, bouzouki, mandolin, harmonica
DONAL LUNNY: backing vocals, bouzouki, guitar bodhren
BRUCE MOLSKY: vocals, fiddle, 5-string banjo
NIKOLA PAROV: gadulka, gaida, kaval, tin whistle, clarinet, guitar, kalimba
RENS van der ZALM: backing vocals, fiddle, mandolin, guitar

A great band! Both of their CDs are absolute gems. I wish they would tour in the US.

A yes, Andy M. Irvine. I remember him well.

Didn't he used to sing with the Silly Planxty band?

Seamus

Actually, it was Christy Moore who said it originally. Credit where credit is due.

Wasn't he in My Left Foot?

There's an eastern European/Klezmer tune on that first recording on my "to learn" list, along with I think it's Black Jack Grove.    Some day I hope they come over the pond.
