Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 02 Nov 09 - 01:14 PM That was mean, KT. I too had finally eliminated it from the odd remnants floating around in my semi-consciousness. "Billy Jean, That's my love... The Chat is not my own..." |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 03 Nov 09 - 08:41 AM It looks as if Peter and Joann may make it. Who needs a bed? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: bfdk Date: 03 Nov 09 - 09:30 AM I wish I did - need a bed, that is. But I've got my own bed here in Denmark, and it won't let me travel at the moment.. Have some serious fun, all of you. Seamus, see if you can get the sofa to yourself, leave a banjo on the seat if you need to vacate your space for a brief spell :o)) Best wishes, Bente |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 03 Nov 09 - 12:39 PM I suspect Seamus says that before every performance (without the nyaah nyaah so there). |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 03 Nov 09 - 01:22 PM Maeve - why would you care whether it's downhill or not? You're going to some old recording session instead...:>) Tinker, what the hell are you rambling on about? Sofa? I don' need no steenkin' sofa. Stop putting furniture in my mouth. SINS, I actually do use the "nyaah, nyaah, so there" before every show. It's a guy thing. Ask Kendall. And Tom & Linn, I can't stop by the Press Room on my way north due to the fact that I'm coming from Fort Kent. If you think I'm swinging a big loop around to hit the Press Room and then back up to So. Portland, you've got another think coming! Who do you think I am, Jed Marum? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 03 Nov 09 - 01:28 PM LOL Poor Jed will never live that down. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: maeve Date: 03 Nov 09 - 01:33 PM Seamus- I care because I hope to have to have the pleasure of hearing your music more than one time...nyaah nyaah nyaah. And I'm still hoping I can be at Sinsull's to hear you this time. Shall I bring a big drum to play on all the quiet passages? Coming from Fort Kent? Heck, by rights I should let you give me a lift to South Portland! ...mwahahaha! maeve |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: emjay Date: 03 Nov 09 - 02:38 PM I'll miss that one but we are getting used to seeing Seamus in Alaska in late winter. Someday he will be here in May or June and know we get warmer weather. And someday he will come out to Palmer and meet some other Alaskans. Martie |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: ranger1 Date: 03 Nov 09 - 04:12 PM Seamus, dear, don't taunt Maeve. I may have to either gift you with hideobilia or deprive you of lima beans in the future. Whichever threat is scarier. |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 03 Nov 09 - 07:35 PM CELLAR! The whole bunch of you. This is a respectab;e estrablishmenat. Bed reserved for Jeri - do you need to be alo0ne or will you share one with Seamus????????? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 03 Nov 09 - 07:44 PM Maeve - I'll be glad to pick you up on my way down. You'll have to make your own way back, though. Oh, no drum, thanks, I'll have my own. Ranger, I love Lima beans, and Sins, which Seamus are you referring to regarding Jeri's bed? Emjay, see you in AK in 2011. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Jeri Date: 03 Nov 09 - 08:03 PM Which Seamus? Not the dog, and even if he's flea-free, he gets a blankie on the floor. If that's where you were going to put ME, you might get a surprise in the middle of the night. Definitely not the married one. Maybe you could put the two Seami together? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 03 Nov 09 - 09:02 PM Ah...so that's the plural of Seamus! |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: KT Date: 03 Nov 09 - 11:03 PM Hey, Seamus! Will you pick me up on the way down, too? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 04 Nov 09 - 02:09 AM KT - Alaska is just slightly out of my way, otherwise I'd be glad to. Aren't the dogsleds running? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: KT Date: 04 Nov 09 - 03:35 AM No, a tad too early - but the Dog salmon are....actually it's too late for them! So I figured if I can't get to Maine, at least I've got January to look forward to - wrong again. Appears someone we all know and love will be playing steel drums, rather than the bodhran. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: kendall Date: 04 Nov 09 - 04:32 AM Hey Rap. that "Other" Portland is the original Portland. It often gets confused with that johnnie come lately on the weast coast. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: kendall Date: 04 Nov 09 - 04:36 AM Seriously folks, I have never seen a performer who gives as much as Seamus does. He is the consumate artist; funny, (doesn't steal too many of my stories) hell of a voice, I would pass up a front seat in hell to watch him. (Seamus, I'll PM you to discuss my fee) :-) Dammit KT, move to New England, will ya? Maine that is. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 04 Nov 09 - 01:41 PM Kendall - well done. I'll bring you a bottle of 'your fee'. I look forward to seeing you all. Seamus |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: gnu Date: 04 Nov 09 - 04:56 PM Hmmm... if the dog got into that bog grog and buried Jeri neath the eider down, would SINS' grin or frown? Yes, why do you ask? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 05 Nov 09 - 02:22 PM What the hell are you going on about, gnu????? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 05 Nov 09 - 07:27 PM I say, Gnu, old chap, have you posted to the right thread? They all start to look the same after a while, don't they? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: catspaw49 Date: 05 Nov 09 - 07:41 PM Not to worry Folks......See, gnu lives up there in the ass end of the backside of nowhere and is slowly going off his nut. Just roll with it and eventually he will complete his journey into the realms of blithering idiocy. Just humor him and I'll be watching the gate for his arrival. Really, its not too bad a place but the gawdamned grass is a light purple color and always needs to be cut................ Spaw |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 05 Nov 09 - 10:12 PM Spaw, does that mean that you're working the door for the concert? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: gnu Date: 06 Nov 09 - 07:58 AM Kendall said the whiskey tasted like peat... bog grog (yes, I know). I thought Jeri and Seamus the dog were sharing a bed(room) and some folks have eider down comforters. So now, who is going off their nut? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: maeve Date: 06 Nov 09 - 08:07 AM Gnu- It made more sense to me than many other things have done. I always wanted to see an eider down coverlet, too. m |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: SINSULL Date: 06 Nov 09 - 08:08 AM I understood it all, gnu - very scary. Seamus the dog doesn't like single malt. He prefers Irish Whiskey and very good champagne - won't drink the cheap stuff. Now if Spaw needs a bed too we will have some very interestinmg sleeping arrangements. Think I'll crash at TRUBRIT's. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Jeri Date: 06 Nov 09 - 08:57 AM I understood it too, although I wasn't going to admit it until somebody else did first. I'm pretty sure Seamus the Dog likes beer too. ANY kind of beer, just like garden slugs, except slug farts aren't as noticeable. So, Seamus the Musician: getting excited? |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 08 Nov 09 - 05:27 PM Yes, Jeri - I can scarcely contain myself... Now Dick Miles, aka Good Soldier Schweik, there's a guy who would be wonderful in a house concert. Those travel expenses from Ireland might make it a tad difficult, though. Seamus |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: gnu Date: 18 Nov 09 - 05:42 AM I meant the other Seamus. In a way, I am offended. Of course, if HE could type...? |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: Becca72 Date: 18 Nov 09 - 07:57 AM Gnu, At the last Seamus Kennedy house concert @ Sinsull's(which was outside in summer) I watched the canine Seamus pick up my bottle of water, walk far enough away so I couldn't reach him, pry the bottle top off with his teeth and tip the bottle just enough so he could drink out of it. I wouldn't put typing past him! :-) |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: SINSULL Date: 18 Nov 09 - 08:10 AM Gnu - Micca's room is still decorated in pink. You can crash there or claim the other bedroom for your own. Just one or two rules - The cats can do anything. I don't snore. And do not speak to me in the AM before I have had sufficient coffee. You'll know when I stop snarling. |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: gnu Date: 18 Nov 09 - 04:06 PM Pink? Coral or rose or hot or.... ? I am VERY particular. I would use a lot of pink paint in my house as it apparently tends to calm a person (even used in police detention areas due to this effect), however, if I ever start dating again, I don't really want any of the lasses I bring home to be "calm". >;-) Of course, if the other Seamus and I did have to share any horizontal floor space, pink would be the best. PS... note that I refrained from saying "rooster dink pink" as I am a gentleman... when I am calm. |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: Cuilionn Date: 18 Nov 09 - 10:02 PM A farmer's life... too busy working outside in the Spring and Summer to "indulge" in computerfication. Fall and Winter, the only way to stay warm in our 1830s farmhouse was to huddle around the wood stove, far from the cold back room wherein we ensconced the computer. We abandoned the old farmhouse last year when we could no longer keep it warmer than 35 degrees INside. At that point we looked at our 20-year-old toasty-warm woodshop and decided to engage in some Rural Real-Estate Flipping (that's when you make your outbuilding into a house, and your house into an outbuilding). Now the "new" woodshop-turned-cosy-wee-cottage is done, and I have a laptop that allows me to type while enjoying the warmth of the stove. So..... ceilidh, anyone? We're just fifteen minutes inland from Freeport, and we'd love to have this place graced by a few good sessions! |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: Jeri Date: 21 Nov 09 - 11:26 AM Mary, I'm so, so sorry to tell you this. I got up this morning and figured I really ought to bring some food this time. Now, I don't cook that much, but I think I know what I can do, so I will. It's either desert or breakfast. So, I apologize, but I can't not come, and I will bring this thing if I manage to not turn it into charcoal when I don't not show up. Thank you, and again, I'm sorry. Sorry about the other folks, too. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: SINSULL Date: 21 Nov 09 - 01:04 PM HHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Desert or breakfast. We can only hope she means dessert or we may get our just deserts or is it desserts? Any more desertions? |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: The Sandman Date: 21 Nov 09 - 05:15 PM Ingredients: two pounds of cactus prepared and diced a couple cans of diced tomatoes three or four pickled jalapeno peppers (or to taste) three cloves or more (to taste) of garlic one-half medium onion a can each of red kidney, black bean, and pinto beans pinch of basil a bunch of cilantro quarter cup of olive oil couple dashes of salt and some ground black pepper will add flavor A handful of sunflower seeds, shelled pumpkin seeds, or pine nuts, or any mix of them For a real crowd pleaser at a picnic or party make this cactus salsa ahead of time and allow to blend its flavors in the refrigerator for a few hours or more. Just mix all the ingredients above that you can obtain. Some hot peppers are always in favor here in the SouthWest, but other folks may need it tamed down on the hot peppers some. One can use this as a dip for tortilla chips, or a relish and garnish on burritos (see breakfast burritos to the right), meat dishes or a general spicy condiment. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: SINSULL Date: 21 Nov 09 - 06:48 PM Having only one bathroom I think we will pass. Food is going 'round, lots of it. So is some Black Bushmills. Should be an interesting evening. Bye. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: catspaw49 Date: 21 Nov 09 - 07:39 PM Well you need to have Mr. Miles bring his taste treat over to your house Sins. You could have him right there with his concertina. Can't be far, just an ocean in there, a few waves, not many at all, just a few...Dick Miles....Could be there shortly.......with voice too. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: kendall Date: 22 Nov 09 - 06:28 AM Once again Seamus put on a superior performance and he always gives full measure.I say this from the heart, not the Bushmills he shared with me! My old Glen Morangie may be in trouble. He has a new CD coming out with cowboy songs on it that I used to hear as a boy going to the movies (10 cents for a double feature) on Saturday afternoons. For those who have never seen Seamus, he is a master showman who never loses his audience. I was never able to play 6/8 time with a pick but he makes it look easy. He also has more tasteless jokes than I do! |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Nov 09 - 06:42 AM Another great night and Seamus (the man) outdid himself both in song and humour. I did note a few jokes that I've heard Kendall tell, but I'm not sure who got them from who. Talk about panties being thrown on stage led to a remark from Seamus that nearly had me choking on a mouthful of wine, but it's not the sort of thing that I can repeat here. We're going to try and make sure that it's not as long a time between Seamus's visits in the future - maybe coordinate with other house concert hosts in Maine. Thank you sir, it was a delight to have you here. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: ranger1 Date: 22 Nov 09 - 06:51 AM Good (insert diety of choice here)! What on earth are you people who don't have to work today doing up at the ass-crack of dawn? |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: catspaw49 Date: 22 Nov 09 - 10:46 AM I really do love Seamus and I'm sure his cowboy song cd will be great. Sounds like a good night for a;;! Jacko.......We need to talk. Have you read many of my posts? Exactly what is it that you can't tell here? Where's Sinsull? What's the scoop? You can't say something like that then just let it dangle. Do you need an Anne Frank Drum Kit or what? Now you need to get Dick Miles as Seamus suggested. Just an ocean away...just a few hours, just a few waves, really just a few....Dick Miles........He can be there with concertina and voice. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: SINSULL Date: 22 Nov 09 - 11:36 AM I awoke at 10:30 to find that Jacqui and Kendall had stopped by and put on a cup of coffee. They just came back for breakfast. Fun night. More later. SINS |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: kendall Date: 22 Nov 09 - 04:54 PM Ok, I'm not too proud to tell all. Seamus, (the man) asked for a piece of paper to write a reminder on, and a certain member of the audience, whom I shall not name, tossed him a notebook. Being nearest to him and he being on a stool, I picked it up and handed it to him. As I did, I told him that I remember when they used to throw panties at us, and he said, "And we knew it was going to be a great night when they stuck." I'm not sure I know what he meant, but everyone laughed. |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 No From: TRUBRIT Date: 22 Nov 09 - 08:17 PM It was a wonderful evening. Seamus told stories of Frank Ifield, an old heartthrob of mine from way back.....and sang a la Ifield with wonderful yodel tones. He also teased the two Brits there (me, TruBrit and Jacqiu C) very appropriately all night. It was truly a fabulous evening......thanks for visiting Seamus! |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: kendall Date: 23 Nov 09 - 02:31 AM And the levity lasted well past noon on Sunday. Seamus, how do people who lack a sense of humor cope with you? |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: SINSULL Date: 23 Nov 09 - 08:08 AM Seamus gave me a preview copy of his new CD. Brilliant collection of classic cowboy songs with yodelling. Wonderful stuff. His concert at times seemed to go completely out of control with the natives taking over. Hilarious and at times raunchy always within boundaries but I am not sure who set them. Seamus' wife must be a saint or heavily medicated. His humor is non-stop. Too bad Peter and Joann couldn't make it. It would have been critical mass. Many thanks to the Morses for arriving early, putting on a pot of coffee and leaving quietly. Great music - from cowboy to sea shanties to children's songs to Gaelic melodies. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Great food. Great company. Come back soon, Seamus. |

At least, I lasted until 2:30 or 3, and I spent most of it listening, singing or laughing. I can't remember a lot of the jokes, so when Kendall tells them again they'll be just like new. I LOVE the old cowboy stuff, and I definitely want that CD when the big CD drive gets 'em rounded up and ready for sale. |

Having a blast. I just finally kicked the last 2 musicians (Jimmy Kelly and the incredibly brilliant Fintan Stanley out of my room after a skinful of adult beverages and a load of tunes. I must say, Saturday night's concert at Sinsull's was a total delight and pleasure for me and I was happy to meet a couple of new (to me) 'Catters. Hi Maeve, hi TRUBRIT. Yeah, let's do it again! Mary, Jacqui, Kendall, Jeri, maeve, Deborah, Tami, Jason, Tom, Spanky, Alfalfa, Darla, Buckwheat, John-Boy, Mom, Dad, Dopey, Doc, Sneezy et al. Thank you for a wonderful night. Seamus |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: kendall Date: 24 Nov 09 - 07:07 AM Folks, if you want to hear something completely different, get Seamus' new CD of cowboy songs. This guy is multi talented as well as being a hell of a lot of fun. You dredged up old memories of Saturday afternoons at the theater with The Sons of the Pioneers, Leonard Sly, Gene Autry, Tim Holt, Rocky Lane Lash LaRue and Sunset Carson. We would watch anything in those days! By the way, Gene Autry could out draw Leonard Sly any day! Seamus, it was a hoot! |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Nov 09 - 07:25 AM Perhaps Leonard Sly but NOT Leonard Slye who was a proud and sturdy son of OHIO. Additionally, Trigger could outdo Champion on every front! And who would you have share your sleeping bag on a cold, winter, night? Dale Evans or Smiley Burnette? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: SINSULL Date: 24 Nov 09 - 07:54 AM Get back in the cellar and don't come out again until called! Imagine suggesting that Dale Evans would share anyone's sleeping bag but Roy's. HARUMPH! |

He was a down on his luck drifter who was accused of a crime. Gene Autry helped clear his name. Then Gene went off to war and Leonard slipped into his slot instead of joining up himself! Hadn't been for Republic pictures Gene might have disappeared. Trigger couldn't carry Champions feed bag! |

Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy house concert So Portland-21 Nov From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Nov 09 - 01:10 PM I read that Dale wished Roy had been stuffed as well as Trigger.........or at least certain parts of him........... Really they were very religious which although I may not be, they certainly did well with family. I think they got kids in about every way possible and endured some very tragic situations always holding tight to each other. They seem to have been truly in love...........very beautiful. Sorry, didn't mean to get serious there.......So.....I also understand that Roy shot Trigger after he discovered him in bed with Dale. Roy felt bad about it and had Trigger mounted.....then Dale did the same as she wasn't finished yet............ There....that's better........ Spaw |
