I went into the HMV store in Hull the other week to buy the Soundtrack for this film as a Christmas present. Has I could not see it on the shelves I asked at the counter and was told the store would not be stocking it because it was only available from a small distributor who they did not use. They then told me I could get it from their website which if this is correct offends me - why not have it on their shelves.

Does anyone know of a record shop in the Lincolnshire/Yorkshire area selling if over the counter, or is it only available via the web?

I usually buy from HMV online - the CDs are cheaper than they are in the stores and there's no charge for postage. What's the problem?

The problem being that I do not buy anything on-line having had a couple of bad experiences in the past.

Does anyone know of any record shops (other than HMV) who are stocking this CD ?

The other thing I forgot to mention in my last posting is that it is certain that the distributor/producer of the CD will not sell very many copies due to this record shop placing restrictions on the sale of the CD.

MD,

I obviously don't know what 'bad experiences' you have had, but mainstream internet shopping is exceptionally reliable these days. Even the EFDSS are selling the CD if you don't trust the more commercial outlets.

Does anyone know of any record shops ...who are stocking this CD ?

I'd doubt that any high street shops are. As has been said above, the likely market is pretty small, and it wouldn't make economic sense for them to do so. Quite why this offends you is beyond me...

If you really can't come to terms with buying over the 'net, I'm sure that many record shops would order it for you?

Ed

I'm sorry, but you don't live in the real world. Things have moved on. Do you honestly think that lots of people would be browsing in HMV and think: "I must buy that!"

Hi Lincoln,

How about breaking your phobia about buying on line and doing Mudcat some good at the same time?

Amazon have the DVD in at a reasonable price and if you go into it through amazonUK.mudcat.org the Cat gets a cut!

I've never had any problems with Amazon and have used them quite a lot over the years.

Tig xxx

"MD - Lincoln" was asking about the audio soundtrack. Can you not read?

Last time I bought anything from an HMV store (the big one in London) one of the CDs was this:

Poza

Are they so much more mainstream?

I have been looking into this and will either be buying it from EFDSS or direct from Dreamboat Records.

I have not decided yet but am still annoyed that I cannot just pick it up off the shelves of a record shop.

I didn't think there were many left. I buy all mine on line or at gigs and have done for several years. With web sites and MySpace you can often hear the music in advance too, which record shops stopped allowing you to do years ago when they became "Megastores". It's a shame there aren't places like Colletts with knowledgeable staff any more, but it's so much easier, faster & cheaper to buy online from anywhere in the world, I don't miss trudging the streets. Sometimes, change and progress are an improvement on tradition!

The EFDSS will probably take a mail order over the phone.

Details HERE on the nice new web site.

Ok - they have the soundtrack too. The idea was to be helpful not to be shot down by someone who doesn't know me!!!

Few members even THINK of using the Mudcat/Amazon link and it could act as a reminder to them too.

Tig.

Amazon's no good if you don't want to order online.

Apart from that it IS a good idea, except I can't spot a link to it anywhere. Am I just being blind? The link you quote above (amazonUK.mudcat.org) doesn't take me anywhere.

I must try Record Corner in Godalming - if anyone has it on the shelf, it'll be them.
