Issue number 240 of THE FOLK DIARY is now published and as it is a bi-monthly publication, it does not take much mathematics to work out that it has now reached its 40th birthday - and all that time under the same two editors - JIM MARSHALL and VIC SMITH. You can read the 16 pages (including 4 pages of album reviews) on-line at http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~tinvic/fd.htm and that webpage will also give you the address to send an SAE to if you would like to receive a free paper copy. A brilliant achievement. One of the reasons there's so much folk music in Sussex is that the Folk Diary makes it easy to find out what's on.

It more or less coincides with my involvement in Sussex folk music. I think I even did some folding back in the early days. Many thanks to Jim and Vic for all they've done.

Yes indeed.

1969 in the Springfield on a Friday night was about the first time I came across the Folk Diary.
