Dermot Heggerty?- need info on this performer

The first time I came to Ireland, many years ago, some relatives gave me two tapes of a man who played at their wedding in the 1950's. The tapes have long since disappeared; I think the name of the singer was Dermot Heggerty, or a close approximation.
    Could any of you fill me in; I really enjoyed his music. Thanks

I think you mean Dermot HEGARTY (note : spelling!) and there are a couple of his songs on you tube. If I remember correctly he used to sing with a showband called The Plainsmen

I could be way wrong but I think he lives in America now.
