Subject: RE: If You Like Arlo Guthrie Have a Listen From: katlaughing Date: 03 Jan 10 - 11:23 PM Adrien, thanks so much for the link. As it says the camera work and performance are true magic. How beautiful to see the three of them up there with such a story. Both so superb in their own ways and so complimentary to one another's style. Lovely is right! kat |

Subject: RE: If You Like Arlo Guthrie Have a Listen From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Jan 10 - 12:27 AM Janet Guthrie has been adding a load of stuff lately and this is the first I've noticed but DAMN! Be sure to catch some of the different time periods of "The Garden Song," Dylan's "Darkest Hour," "Mother the Queen of My Heart," "Shade of the Old Apple Tree," the duet on "Deportee" with Emmylou, and DO NOT MISS The Beatles "Falling" (I've Just Seen a Face). For a final shot, try Arlo's own "Last Train" with full orchestra, and finally, another great Arlo song, "In Times Like These" Karen and I just spen a lovely hour with thoses and a few more. Thanks Adrien as I was a little behind in my YouTube surfing. Spaw |

Subject: RE: If You Like Arlo Guthrie Have a Listen From: topical tom Date: 04 Jan 10 - 11:29 AM Great song and story, Adrien! Some of our fondest memories were seeing Pete and Arlo in several live performances at Place Wilfrid Pelletier in Montreal. What a great duo they were! Subject: RE: If You Like Arlo Guthrie Have a Listen From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 04 Jan 10 - 12:12 PM Just a quick plug - if you are in the NJ/NYC area this Saturday (January 9), we will be presenting Sarah Lee Guthrie and her husband Johnny Irion at the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club in Fair Lawn, NJ. More information and tickets can be purchased at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org . Sarah Lee has a great deal of the Gutrhie charm and wit, and when she sings with Johnny the duo have been compared to Welch & Rawlings and Carter & Cash. They are brilliant. Sarah Lee & family, including Arlo and Pete Seeger, recently recorded a wonderful CD of children's songs for Smithsonian Folkways. |

Subject: RE: If You Like Arlo Guthrie Have a Listen From: Beer Date: 04 Jan 10 - 09:45 PM The Elvis tribute song can bring a tear to your eye if you are in the mood. The next one can as well but for different reasons. The pictures captured speak very clearly indeed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J72hq9kLyUQ Love the violin as it fits just perfectly with the mood of this very sad number. ad. |
