Thanks to Mary Katherine's posting in Kendall, Jacqui, and Dan's Grammy thread, that we can watch the pre-televised Grammys, i.e. folk, etc., at Grammy Live. They will be showing stuff 24/7 from 29 January on to the televised show on the 31st. I hope they will post a schedule or something so we know just when to watch, but it should be fun, anyway.

According to the official invitation, the pre-telecast awards, which include all the folk categories, begin at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on January 31. I don't know what they're showing on the internet prior to that - maybe some excerpts of highlights from prior years' awards?

Is it me, or my browser? In firefox, I just see a bunch of what looks like html. IN IE, I can see some kind of lighter pattern but can't make out what it is. Enlighten me, please?

Try squinting? If it's not actually small text for you, try using Firefox's Zoom reduction (Control-[minus]) until it's small enough to be about 1/4 or less of your browser window. Then squint again... ?

Yeah, it's a fairly small picture, compared to the window -- just a bit wider than the date line on the message header.

The text is so small, that for me, I can't actually make out any of the letters as individual letters.

Maybe it would help if you stood at the back of the room, and squinted at your monitor.

(still wants to know how Jeri did this. Is it a special program that translates photo automatically?)

According to the downloadable PDF program guide for this afternoon, they are the 49th category. I don't know how long each one will last, but it could be a while. I had no idea there were SO many categories. It's amazing!

Shoot! 'course there were Grammy veterans there who said they'd been nominated a lot of times and were just winning for the first time.

And, this will still help with album sales. You are ALL wonderful and fantastic friends to UUtah and his family and can be proud of what you've done for them. We are very proud of you!

Just being nominated for something that started out as a small project is incredible. I've been telling people that I personally know Grammy nominees. I think I'll keep doing that.

I heard the cheers (including my own here in CT). Would have been nice to see our grass roots friends win that grammy outside of the music establishment, but I'm still so proud of what they did. Getting nominated is a huge honor and a wonderful tribute to Utah Phillips.

No one should feel bad. You did an incredible job and put out an amazing CD that is doing a lot of good - both financially for the family and to help spread Utah's name and influence. It is a brilliant recording.

If you had to lose, you lost to another great CD - and an important project. Wainwright's project is helping introduce Poole to a new audience - and to bring some attention to get Poole inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame.   It is a damn good recording too, and I'm sure Utah wouldn't feel bad about losing to it.

We are lucky to be able to celebrate two magnificent recordings and everyone should be extremely proud of what you accomplished. A Grammy on a mantle might have been a nice knick-knack, but you can relish the fact that everyone connected with the Utah project created a work of art that is going to be heard, enjoyed and will teach generations to come. I'm happy for everyone involved and I'm honored to know some of you.
