A few of us have a special project in the works involving CD's of Mudcatters. I am sure I do not know of all 'Catter's who have recorded CD's, so am posting this message. If you have put out one or more CD's of your music, or if you have recorded a home CD that you have distributed privately among friends, please make a brief post to this thread so that I can pm you.

a coupla years back, my partner and I put out a CD in Oz, entitled "A Taste of Good Music" (the songs are all recipes, with music and singing in the Folk style!).

In 1989 I recorded a cassette called Butter & Cheese & All on Brewhouse label [who at same time BTW were recording Dick Miles aka Good Soldier Schweik who lived quite nearby in E England then tho now in Ireland, tho we never met]. I ran out of all but one or two master copies & recently when offering dubbed copies to friends have learned they no longer have cassette players; so have had it remastered on to CD, which I suppose qualifies to enter on this thread.

I can use that list. This is a small and personal project being coordinated by a few people. I was and am concerned that this thread may give the impression that a major project on behalf of Mudcat or Mudcat musicians is afoot, and that is not the case. I'll pm those who have responded thus far with more specific information, and am inclined to think this thread can be closed, or even deleted so as not to take up uneccessary space. Janie, I have quite a few of my original songs (plus a few covers) on tape but I have yet to have them transferred to digital format in a way that doesn't muffle the highs.   I also have quite a few other live performance audio (and video) files, some of them of my original songs.   Let me know more about what you're interested in and I can send you a CD or DVD with audio of anything you think may fit.

I have re-mastered my old cassettes and they could be made available on CD, but I have been wondering whether I should do so. Is there more mileage in having them available on the internet?

The Brighton Taverners made three albums in the 70s & 80s. Their repertoire had many local connections and included songs from the nearby Copper family as well as by (then) local songwriters Steve Knightley, Allan Taylor and Miles Wootton.

They have always acknowledged a great debt of gratitude to Paul Downes, Phil Beer and Steve Knightley, without whose help these albums would probably never have seen the light of day and whose musical contributions made all the difference.

These albums have now been remastered to CD-R.

Janie, I have my dad's Cow Songs which was a tape, but wilbyhillbilly cleaned it up a bit and put it on CD. You may hear a sample of it on his page at Vinyl Transfer. (Scroll down to Sparky Hudson.) I think it is where I can find it easily (in the depths of my desk:-)

I am also on the Mudcat CD for kids which I cannot find on here at the moment.

In 2003, a friend of mine recorded me singing some of my favorites and made a CD of them which he distributed to some of our former high school classmates (from 50+ years ago). No production work was done on it, so I guess it'd be called a 'field' recording.

I could have sworn I'd posted this on the other thread about three years ago, but apparently I didn't, so I'll add my CD to this list.
"It Was a Dark and Stormy Night..." is a CD of my original songs, with all instuments played and recorded by me, and including the local "hit", Doormat. It's available almost everywhere on internet sites thanks to CD Baby, iTunes etc.
I'm currently working on "Legends", but there is a studio to complete before any serious creative input to that. I have made a start on Odysseus & the Sirens (Thanks George P) and "Njal's Saga", and the ideas book is filling up with thoughts about Pandora, Arthur, Roland and all things Persian. Beowulf is now up to version 3- and I'm still not sure it's quite right.

I am on two CDs with the band Civil War Comrades (though only one uses that name, since we recorded it before the change in names). Look for Douglas Jimerson on I-Tunes, and the CDs are "The Civil War" and "A Lincoln Portrait." I like the latter better, since that's the one with more input from me -- I get lost in the mix in the other.

I'm working on a CD of my own music (which means music I play, not just songs I wrote), with maybe six numbers nearly finished, a couple of others needing more tracks or re-recording, and about 10 more just ideas at the moment. I'm recording it at Dennis Cook's, and have run out of money (not to mention other things, like time and such), but it'll be out sometime "soon." Geologically speaking, that is.
