Need the sheet music or at least the audio to I won't go hunting with you Jake. I would even purchase the record if I could find it. Heard it was a part of the Jimmy Dean's Greatest Hits but not certain which "Greatest Hits" album. Thanks

Gosh this took me back - this record used to be among my mum and dad's collection when I was a kid at home and I used to sing along to it. Haven't thought about it in probably thirty five years! Recognised it in an instant! (and remembered most of the words!)

Here in England - the song was on the "B" side of the hit single " Big John - does that help - especially the next time you go to a Record / Disc Fair

Hmmm, I'm not sure if they stream, but this is the sort of stuff played on "Music to Go to the Dump By" on WDEV, a locally owned radio station (the station owner, Ken Squire, does the show. It's a Saturday morning show, and has run off and on since I was a kid. They have a lot of fun with deer camp every November here in VT.

I think this one was played at ABCD deer camp on the show this year.

One of my all time favourites which got me into a bit of PC type trouble when my then seven year old son was asked if he could sing a song to his school class. He promptly stood up & rattled off "I wont go a huntin' with you Jake" and kept going despite the teachers efforts to stop him. He then told the teacher that his Dad had taught it to him. I then received a terse note from the school asking me to be "careful which songs I taught to my children"
Many years later, he still sings it occasionally as part of his great repertiore.
Just a thought - is this the only song about someone sitting on an outside toilet thinking about women???

I still perform this great old song at local concerts. Stuart Hamblen wrote some very good songs such as This Old House and It Is No Secret (What God Can Do) He also ran for President of the USA.

"Song Fest" was a publication of the International Outing Club Association. The last verifiable edition I can find is 1961. A lot of us had copies of it during the "Great Folk Scare" of the late 1950's and early '60's. It contained a large collection of songs from colleges, ski groups, campfire tradition and the like, along with a number of humorous ditties, parodies and folk tunes of various kinds.

I bought mine my freshman year in college, '59-'60. Yellow cover with red main title and gray sub-text. Copyright 1948, 1955 by R. L. Best. Marked "Seventh Printing, October, 1959."

It fell apart a decade or two ago and I three-hole punched the pages and put them in a binder.

If the political correctness police find out I have it, I'll probably be dragged away for reeducation and sensitivity training, based on the number of songs in it written in supposed "darky" dialect.
