Well, this isn't the first time I've done an internet collaboration. Dan does most of the picking on this tune and posted his single guitar version of it on Soundclick. I downloaded the file and fed it into my 8-track recorder, worked out a second guitar part which - I hope - complemented the tune and didn't overwhelm it (you must judge for yourselves). I did a bit tweaking on Dan's EQ - toned the bass down just a bit and upped the mid-range just a bit - and then did a bit of separation so that Dan's guitar is on the left and I'm on the right. Fed the sound into my Mac Book Pro using Audacity, topped and tailed the sound file, converted to mp3 - and emailed the collaboration back to Dan.

Isn't the internet great? When you cut away all the crap out there, the porn and the rampant commercialism, etc., there's still some space for genuine freedom and creativity - for some meeting across the waters, which was part of the original concept by Tim Berners-Lee.

Al Day has emailed me a little composition he's working on for concertina - and now I'm working on the tune and thinking about chords and guitar accompaniment. And so it goes on...

Thanks folk you always hit me in the heart, I appreciate the kindness more than I can say. just a side note Dan... the man that mastered 'Falling Forward" and did the guit. solo on 'Down to Love' passed away this morning.. it was the last solo that he recorded.. so it just goes to show how precious these collaborations really are...
