I was recently in the Florida Everglades, and ran across a bunch of old-timey guys over 50, playing old timey fiddle tunes. One of these songs was a little gem called "You're the Best of All Leading Brands."

Anybody have the words and/or music?

Matthew B. I can hardly believe you have been around here as long as you have and started a thread with, "Lyrics request"! Always, always, ALWAYS try to incorporate some part of the name of the song or other germaine words into the thread title. We already have hundreds of threads by this generic title. It makes it a bit difficult to go back and find it later. Chiding remarks end here. I will start a new thread for you to show you what I mean.

This was recorded in 1971 by Lester Flatt and Mac Wiseman on an album done in England HAT 3065 titled Lester "N" Mac". One of the best Bluegrass albums ever done.IMO. Our band does many of the cuts on this album and we are often asked from where they come as the album is rather obscure. Side 1...You're the Best of All the Leading Brands, Special, Homestead on the Farm, Your Love is Like a Flower, Now that You Have me. Side two...The Bluebirds Singing for Me, Will You be Loving Another Man, Jimmy Brown, the Newsboy, Sweetheart You Done Me Wrong, I'll Never Love Another.

YOU'RE THE BEST OF ALL THE LEADING BRANDS
From the album LESTER 'N' MAC 1971

Verse 1.
Now you're the best of all the leading brands,
From hugs and kisses down to holding hands,
I'm only happy in your company,
And no one else can make that guarantee.

Cho. You're the best and always number one,
You've got the competition on the run,
I'm sure that everybody understands,
I like you best of all the leading brands.

Verse 2.
Your new improved performance too is great,
To me there is no question how you rate,
Your quality puts you so far ahead,
Your shape your style your look,
Sure knocks 'em dead.
Repeat Chorus.
Line Breaks
added.

Hi, Mountain Thyme - we've got an HTML thread (click) that gives good information about all sorts of Mudcat tricks. First thing ya gotta know is line breaks,
. Put one at the end (or beginning) of each line when you're posting lyrics - or whenever you want to start a new line in a message.

I'll just try that.

See if that works.
