This Thursday marks the start of a new tour in England and Scotland by Appalachian Magic, a show of Old Time music and dance from the Southern Appalachians, with Debby McClatchy and the Albemarle Ramblers.

The second website gives the tour details, but roughly the order of concerts is St Ives, Ilfracombe, Blisland (Cornwall), Bridgewater, Irvine, Kirkcaldy, Doncaster, Blackburn, Melton Mowbray,Low Bentham (Lancs dales), Haddenham (Bucks) and Bath. I'll be driving one of the cars and enjoying every minute of it....

Cheers
Ray

I worked at Piedmont Virginia Community College for a while when Dick Harrington taught there. He played a time or 2 in the Holiday Happenings (staff talent show).

Good Stuff. Would feel like being home to seem them play.

For a folky banjo player/singer, Debbie has some great stories about San Francisco's legendary rock venue Filmore West!

Saw them last Saturday and a jolly good evening too. Then they stopped with us over Monday and we had a wild old session in the back room.

I saw them in Melton Mowbray on Sunday night - acoustic, in a pub - great night, great songs, a bit of freestyle clogging...they wrapped up with a bit of an informal session (someone in the audience seemed to suddenly pull a double bass from their back pocket) and Susananna Gal, one of my favourites!

Fly around my pretty little miss
Fly around my daisy
Fly around my pretty little miss
Come on and drive me crazy...

I was standing by the pool table with my partner, just across from where you were sitting! I was the one who put the Sidmouth leaflets out.

OK Ruth - I know who you are now. We've had three days off, now we're doing the last bit - Low Bentham tonight, then Haddenham, Bath, Heathrow and home completely knackered.
It's been a great trip....
Looks like I'll be jamming with them at Clifftop in August.
Ray

What a magical evening, and how quickly it flew!

Thanks to all of you, and for the Gentleman of Virginia CD which seemed to shorten our drive back to Harrow.

Safe journeys home (and looking forward to hearing Debby again at Chippenham festival in May).

Kitty
