AS regulars to the Six Bells session in Barrow on Humber will know, that establishment has shut. However, I'm delighted to announce that the BARTON session - as it was known - is returning home to Barton, at the COACH AND HORSES pub.
When he found out about the Six Bells, Steve, the landlord of the Coach and Horses, was very enthusiastic about us going to his pub. There are several reasons for using the new venue
1) The landlord is a real music enthusiast, and would always welcome us
2) The room is excellent , almost square, about 12ft x 12 ft, plenty of room to expand also if needed, with some room for audience. While not absolutely cut off from the main bar area, no-one will need to get past us to go to the loo!
3) The acoustics are very good, wooden floor and not too much padding.
4) The beer is good
5)He'll be happy to provide sandwiches
6) It's ONE MINUTE from the Humber Bridge. At the bottom of the hill into Barton, don't turn right to Barrow, go straight across the mini roundabout and take the first turning left, the Coach and Horses is 50 yards on the right.

So, folks, let's make this venue as successful as - or even more successful than- the Six Bells.
COME ALONG TO THE INAUGURAL SESSION ON TUESDAY FEBRUARY 23RD. WITHOUT PEOPLE, NO SESSION SUCCEEDS.
Give it your support, make it the BIG Barton session again!
See you there
Lawrie

No bosses, guest, no cliques, just respect for each other and love of acoustic & traditional music. Toons mostly, songs no problem, be prepared for everyone to join in if you start a toon or song. It's a great atmosphere, we're known as a very friendly session. Beginners just join in when they can, start a set if they feel confident. Come along & have a look. There's beer, too!
See you
Lawrie

An what an excellent inaugural session it was, too. A very good turnout - plenty of them there north bankers - and all were agreed the room had excellent acoustics, with space for anything from a few to about 20 musicians or more. Even with the unfinished decorations - the decorators moved in as we were leaving at half past eleven! - the venue received a thumbs up from all!
And I didn't have any of the beer, but I'm told it's very good
Looking forward to next week, hope to some other new faces as well as the reglar crowd!
Lawrie

Glad it went well Lawrie - sorry I was unavoidably absent - my dog ate the homework....(busy recording new cd in time for our Paddy's night gig at the Lincoln Drill Hall)
Plan to get along as soon as I can though.
Best wishes
D

What are the toilets like?

Toilets in the Coach and Horses are very pleasant, a fine selection of devices for preventing all sorts of accidents and, on the way back, an automatic vendor which dispenses different nuts, including pistachios. Now to me, Oaklet, you look like a pistachio man. Of course we'd be delighted to see you with fiddle akimbo, whenever you fancied it.
Bill, I tend not to get out many Mondays, being as how this bloody teaching lark is leaving me jiggered big time, but keep me posted, I might just get a body or two in a car, love to play a few toons with you again!
For the others, it's tomorrow night again, love to see faces old and new!
Lawrie

The Barton session is most certainly going, it's been a weekly one for about ten years now, in a variety of venues in Barton and Barrow. We'll be there again tomorrow (Tuesday 6th April) from about 8.30pm in the Coach and Horses in Barton, faces new and old always welcome.
Don't know if you've ever been, James, but look forward to seeing you.
Lawrie
