Subject: RE: Jim Bainbridge at Fab Club From: GUEST,Trevor Sheridan Date: 14 Oct 11 - 03:49 AM The occasional club that Jim ran in Glentrool was at the House O' the hill Inn just before you get into the village if that's any help..........had some great sessions there |
Subject: RE: Jim Bainbridge at Fab Club From: GUEST,jim bainbridge Date: 15 Sep 13 - 02:28 PM Nice to hear folk enjoyed what I do- am back there on October 20 & looking forward to it. Re the Glentrool 'club'- it was never really that- more a gathering of friends. If you know your Scottish geography, you'll know the pub was (and is) quite remote but central as long as you're happy to drive 30/40 miles to Stranraer or Castle Douglas or wherever.... Sadly, the only way such places can survive is by offering food & the 'House o Hill' is now really a restaurant with real ale It's totally unsuitable for the kind of stuff we put on & as it's the ONLY pub within 10 miles, it all had to stop- think they put on rock stuff now from time to time & the beer's good if a bit pricy for SW Scotland. Hope that clears up a few things- am more involved these days with the John McKenna Society in Drumkeeran, Co Leitrim where I spend most of my time with the 'lovely Francie'- she liked that, John!! |
