Subject: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Kev The Clogs Date: 24 Feb 10 - 06:37 PM Hi there. The weekend of July 16th and 17th has an interesting event. The Good Intent in Rochester. The Kings Arms in Upnor. The King George V in Brompton. The Frog and Toad in Chatham. The Above pubs are holding a COMBINED beer and Folk Weekend!! The plan is that they all run their own beer festivals - in addition, each will be happy to host folk singers, musicians and morris dancers. People can decide to visit one or two or three or all four of the pubs if they want to. There will be a minibus that will shuttle people between the pubs. If anyone requires accomodation, you will have to let John at The King George V know as soon as possible, as he has managed to arrange accomodation in the barrack block at the nearby Fort Amherst. So - please tell all of your folkie and morris friends, and get them to visit this thread in order to show interest. Alternatively, if you know any of the pibs listed, go in and tell them that you will be coming whilst having a couple of sample beers!!! It should be a great weekend. Regards Kev |

Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 Feb 10 - 04:53 PM Will the minibus collect me from and return me to Lower Coke? Otherwise the benefit is illusory. A reasonable fare would not be objected to. PS, where is the Frog and Toad? |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 Feb 10 - 04:56 PM Ooooooh! Off Saunders Street, lower Gillingham. Could be life-threatening. |

Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: GUEST,FloraG Date: 26 Feb 10 - 04:04 AM Derogatory name calling again Richard. Cyber bullying demeans everybody who uses this thread. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Kev The Clogs Date: 26 Feb 10 - 04:16 AM RIGHT - STOP RIGHT NOW!!! Richard has a right to free speech and his opinion. He would say the same to your face. If you find his comments offensive - then I suggest that you settle your problem face to face, and not use this thread to air your dirty washing! ALL people are welcome at this event. ALL points of view are also welcome. Stop bitching and talk about the original subject of this thread please! Now have a nice weekend :-) |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Feb 10 - 05:29 AM If you extend that welcome Kevin to the political views to which I think you refer I shall also be leaving the moment I suspect their presence. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: GUEST,FloraG Date: 26 Feb 10 - 06:30 AM Kev - if you think cyberbullying is OK and is called free speech ! You are absolutely right that it should not happen on this site. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Feb 10 - 07:04 AM There is no cyberbullying here now. And even now I am not immediately planning to explain, but you should examine your conscience for a period that will total 20 years this year, and although I know not more, possibly longer. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Kev The Clogs Date: 26 Feb 10 - 07:57 AM STOP IT - THE PAIR OF YOU! Settle old scores elsewhere please. If this develops into a slanging match, then it will detract from the point of the thread and people will not turn up! |

Let's give it the support that it deserves please. Not heard many people talking about it so far. It's not THAT far away you know. It's that part of the season, isn't it, where we are all now beginning to work out where we are going, what we can fit in etc. Please don't forget this one - try and fit it in if you can. "Folkies, Morris Dancers, Musicians and Singers - Needs YOU!!" Regards Kev the Clogs |

Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: VirginiaTam Date: 05 Apr 10 - 08:00 AM This might be doable for us. Some questions: Are the barracks co-ed? (info about cost useful too) Is the accommodation available both Sat and Sun nights? Is there parking at the Fort? Does the minibus run through end of festival (get us back to barracks on Sunday)? Do any of the aforementioned pubs offer vegetarian meals? |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 05 Apr 10 - 08:13 AM Tam, the ambient temperature in the tunnels is somewhere below 55 degrees (Fahrenheit) - probably not RA friendly. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 05 Apr 10 - 10:49 AM Bugger the temperature dress accordingly. I think its a opportunity that shouldn't be missed and I believe the barracks are haunted too which makes it more Fun. If its cold we can form squares. |

Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Girl Friday Date: 15 Jul 10 - 02:22 PM Hello Kev. Permission to thread drift ever so slightly here. It has been suggested on the Otford Garden Party thread (on which there are few postings) ) that the event may have been overshadowed by this one. Might I point out that the Otford do is on on Sunday, and the Beer Fest is only on Friday and Saturday. Therefore, both are doable. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Jul 10 - 04:43 PM There is bugger all info about this one here... |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Girl Friday Date: 15 Jul 10 - 06:54 PM Sadly true RB . Could Try The G I s Myspace, Yes it's on there.... in very small print.... Hopper Festival Beer Festival |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 17 Jul 10 - 08:18 PM So far it has been by guess and by damn. I looked in Fri nite and the players numbered Cari, me, and Clive. Oh and a hen night int he other bar. I wizzed in after the Red tonight (Sat) and there was Tony and that old bird wot has not yet really learned to play the fiddle. I gather there had been noisy bands on earlier. Communication, communication, communication! (There has really been none yet). |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Girl Friday Date: 18 Jul 10 - 05:21 PM That's just dreadful. The do at Otford had the usual suspects from Folkmob, Stormalong, the organisers of the Travellers Rest Folk Club, Roger ,the accordion player who plays with Bob Kenward, and a few local singers and musos. Where were everyone else all weekend? They must know something we don't. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: Richard Bridge Date: 18 Jul 10 - 05:33 PM It was maybe a little better today - but the only performers I saw (I didn't get to the Frog and Wossname) were Tony, Clive, Cari, self, and Ann the hoofer from the Appalachians. The bus sort of ran. |
Subject: RE: Good Kings Frogs Arms Beer & Folk Fest From: melodeonboy Date: 18 Jul 10 - 06:02 PM "Where were everyone else all weekend? They must know something we don't." I'm afraid I couldn't make either event - I had gigs on all three days! |
