Hi there.

The weekend of July 16th and 17th has an interesting event.

The Good Intent in Rochester.
The Kings Arms in Upnor.
The King George V in Brompton.
The Frog and Toad in Chatham.

The Above pubs are holding a COMBINED beer and Folk Weekend!!

The plan is that they all run their own beer festivals - in addition, each will be happy to host folk singers, musicians and morris dancers.

People can decide to visit one or two or three or all four of the pubs if they want to. There will be a minibus that will shuttle people between the pubs.

If anyone requires accomodation, you will have to let John at The King George V know as soon as possible, as he has managed to arrange accomodation in the barrack block at the nearby Fort Amherst.

So - please tell all of your folkie and morris friends, and get them to visit this thread in order to show interest. Alternatively, if you know any of the pibs listed, go in and tell them that you will be coming whilst having a couple of sample beers!!!

It should be a great weekend.

Im off the whole week end and the prospect of sleeping in Fort Amhurst YES, PLEASE more info on the the Fort sleep over . contact numbers and who to speak too and how much per night. (Board and lodging was a penny a night in 1815) I will bring me Guards Hat and Wellington boots with me.

This might be doable for us.

Some questions:

Are the barracks co-ed? (info about cost useful too)
Is the accommodation available both Sat and Sun nights?
Is there parking at the Fort?
Does the minibus run through end of festival (get us back to barracks on Sunday)?
Do any of the aforementioned pubs offer vegetarian meals?

Tam, the ambient temperature in the tunnels is somewhere below 55 degrees (Fahrenheit) - probably not RA friendly.

I think its a opportunity that shouldn't be missed and I believe the barracks are haunted too which makes it more Fun. If its cold we can form squares.

Hello Kev. Permission to thread drift ever so slightly here. It has been suggested on the Otford Garden Party thread (on which there are few postings) ) that the event may have been overshadowed by this one. Might I point out that the Otford do is on on Sunday, and the Beer Fest is only on Friday and Saturday. Therefore, both are doable.

So far it has been by guess and by damn.

I looked in Fri nite and the players numbered Cari, me, and Clive. Oh and a hen night int he other bar.

I wizzed in after the Red tonight (Sat) and there was Tony and that old bird wot has not yet really learned to play the fiddle. I gather there had been noisy bands on earlier.

That's just dreadful. The do at Otford had the usual suspects from Folkmob, Stormalong, the organisers of the Travellers Rest Folk Club, Roger ,the accordion player who plays with Bob Kenward, and a few local singers and musos. Where were everyone else all weekend? They must know something we don't.

It was maybe a little better today - but the only performers I saw (I didn't get to the Frog and Wossname) were Tony, Clive, Cari, self, and Ann the hoofer from the Appalachians. The bus sort of ran.
