"Edwards is among the last authentic performers in the blues...Through him, an entire body of great American music lives on... -New York Times Rocky Lawrence is a blues musician who has the ability to bring an audience into the Delta and relive the early days of Mississippi Blues. Learning his craft straight from the legendary players who helped create the Blues, Lawrence has taken his talent all over the world. You'd swear he walked the dusty back roads with Robert Johnson. http://fairfieldtheatre.org The Duke Robillard Band and Johnny A. on StageOne Thursday, April 01, 7:30 PM Buy Tickets: $42* FTC Members: $10 Discount Doors Open at 7:00 PM Duke Robillard Band: 2010 GRAMMY Nomineee for Best Traditional Blues Album for Stomp! Subject: RE: Honey Boy Edwards 3/14 From: GUEST,FolkGiant Date: 03 Mar 10 - 07:24 PM Too bad I'm not closer... Honeyboy is perhaps the LAST Delta bluesman who lived and performed contemporaneously with Son House, Charlie Patton and many others who are long since gone. If anyone from the 'Cat is going, cheer loud for me. Cheers, FG |
Subject: RE: Honey Boy Edwards 3/14 From: dwditty Date: 03 Mar 10 - 11:10 PM I believe Honeyboy Edwards is close to 95 years old. I saw him a few years ago - he did two shows with a shot and a beer in between. Yes, he ran with just about everyone and was with Robert Johnson when he was poisoned. I highly recommend Honeyboy's book - The World Don't Owe Me Nothing. It's available at Amazon. dw |

Subject: RE: Honey Boy Edwards Concert March 2010, Connecticut From: GUEST,Rocky Lawrence Date: 06 May 12 - 03:07 PM David "Honeyboy" Edwards is sorely missed by me, along with Robert Lockwood Jr. and my "Daddy" Hubert Sumlin whom I all got to live with, know and play with. I don't see anybody coming behind them at this point except for myself and maybe a handful of other's. Please keep the "Real" blues alive. |
