As a one-time university folk club organiser, I found him courteous, extremely supportive off stage, and incredibly funny on stage. I went out of my way one lunchtime to see The Great Western Musical Thunderbox at The Union one lunchtime, which also featured the late Adge Cutler with the original Wurzels. I Easily recognised during his cameo performance on the identity parade on Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

I still do his Folker (Rewrite of The Boxer) though !

OMG. Fred was booked for Faldingworth Live later in the year. Only spoke to him a couple of months ago.

I've just learned from a local news broadcast that Fred Wedlock suffered a fatal heart attack in a Bristol hospital this morning. He was admitted on Monday suffering from pneumonia. Aged 67 his career had encompassed not only folk music/singing, but also television presenting, compering, etc. I have personal memories of him at Chippenham Folk Festival and send sympathy to his family.
