For those who haven't heard David's music see below. This is a return performance - we love David. Beautiful man. Beautiful music. The evening is guaranteed to be special.

David Jones
folksinger and actor
David Jones, originally from England and now living in Leonia, New Jersey, gateway to the golden west, has a large repertoire of folksong from both sides of the Atlantic. He has performed in North America, Britain, Australia and Europe, singing at festivals, concert halls, clubs, maritime museums and colleges, presenting songs from the great days of sail, Music Hall favorites, traditional ballads, and the works of contemporary writers. He sings both a capella and with guitar accompaniment and involves his audience in refrains and choruses ranging from boisterous to sentimental.

David Jones as Joshua Slocum
As well as performing solo, David has sung with Heather Wood and the late Tom Gibney as Poor Old Horse, with Jeff Warner, Jeff Davis and Jerry Epstein as The Bermuda Quadrangle, with Peter Marston and Charles O'Hegarty as The Starboard List, and was a member of the Clearwater singing crew. He has also sung and recorded with Dan Zanes and Friends and his work with the guitarist Bill Shute led to the award winning Widdecombe Fair now available on the Dan Zanes label, Festivalfive Records. He now sings songs of the sea with The New York Packet at South Street Seaport in New York City, still performs with Heather Wood as a duo, and with Jerry Epstein, who adds wonderful piano and concertina accompaniments to the songs.

David has played feature roles in many theatrical productions to favorable critical reviews, and has performed across the USA as the featured artist in The Victorian Revels, a production based on traditions of the Winter Solstice conceived and produced by Revels Inc. He has played the part of the great sailor Joshua Slocum in Sailing Alone, with words and music by Dillon Bustin, and has sung and provided narration for a number of Public Broadcasting productions, including A Prairie Home Companion, Africans in America and Simple Gifts.

We are at 20 Definites and maybes that have contacted me. Jacqui has been a bit preoccupied but I believe she has some replies too.

Another good turnout. Hope the weather continues to cooperate.

Tom'll have a new battery (hope next time in 5+ years it doesn't take so long to get a new one) and I'll be, I hope, healthy. Exhausted, I'm sure, cuz I am now and it's pretty hectic twixt now and then. (Plus I'll have to go to bed comparatively early so I can head to work on Sunday directly from Mary's. Sigh. No more leisurely Sunday morning breakfasts.)

Another excellent evening with a first class performer, who kept us entranced for the whole evening. He impressed Kendall with his ability to tell jokes, which would tell you how good he is. A lovely informal session that I had to leave too early, really. Many thanks though, to TRUBRIT and Tom, for the lift home - Kendall left earlier, being totally worn out.

As Mary said - good food, good company.

Bert and I over breakfast was great too. I always prefer the morning after activities. A bunch of tired folkies sitting around slightly rumpled telling tales of long ago - usually pretty hilarious stuff involving famous names before they were who they are now.

So good to have Tom back with his concertina. Kendall and Tom's Vaudeville skit with the microphone was not to be missed. "Gimme that F@#$^%$#in' thing!!" LOL

Seamus and I took a nap and now are debating whether to tackle the dishes or just break them and get new ones.

Mary, I left my beautiful eggs in your fridge. Please eat them or give them to somebody who will. It's almost worth a trip back up there, but not quite. I am going to sleep VERY well tonight!

I'm really impressed by not only David's talent and repertoire but by his his ability to maintain that congenial but professional demeanor when confronted with... us. Thank you Mary, thank you David.

What a talent. I had had a short night followed by a long day and then a splitting headache so couldn't stay for the sing around, but I'm glad I went. David is always a treasure.

Thanks to all, I had a great time. Great to see messages from Herga Kitty and Mary from Seaford, I spend a lot of time in the UK now as I have a great big boat moored in Ely, near Cambridge, so hope to visit their clubs. Hope everyone turns out for Martyn W. Reed on April 17th, he is the best.

I found eggs in the fridge that aren't mine - thank you Jeri. I will enjoy them. And who belongs to the tasteless wine coaster and stopper left on the kitchen table?
We are not amused!

Sue and I greatly enjoyed the evening, too-- David Jones was an absolute delight with his richly expressive singing, entrancing storytelling, and hilarious humour.

We only wish we could have stayed for the late-night session, but our desire to indulge was trumped by our tendency towards "farmer's hours."

Anybody up for a hearty singaround about 1/2 hour north of SINSULL's, to be held at our farm in Pownal? We're thinking of Friday, April 30th, roughly 6 PM - 11 PM. Proposed theme would be Agricultural balladry and Songs of the Land. Bonus for anyone who can get the cows to sing along!

I will be there. And there are beds at my place if the southern contingent needs them. Friday will be tough for Linn and Tom - the Press Room session.
