Subject: Frittenden Festival 20th March 2010, Kent From: GUEST,Gavin Atkin Date: 06 Mar 10 - 01:54 PM Frittenden Festival - sing, dance and play kicks off with another old fashioned and traditional session in the bar of the Bell & Jorrocks, Frittenden, Kent, starting at 8pm and finishing when it's time for a couple of choruses of Nellie Dean. There will be serious, sentimental and silly songs, lone and group tunes playing and step-dancing, and there's also likely to be another of our 'classy' cheesy waltz moments. A respected friend recently described the sessions we have at the B&J as being the best he knows, so don't miss the ones we're organising over this weekend! During the Saturday there will also be a concert, stepdancing workshops, and a village hall barn dance. I can promise some excellent singing, great playing, outstanding stepdancing and serious fun all round. For details of the festival's hightlights, see http://frittendenfestival.com . For those who don't know deepest, darkest Kent, Frittenden is a few miles south of Maidstone, and is a legendary place for treacle mines. Gav |
Subject: RE: Frittenden Festival 20th March 2010 From: Girl Friday Date: 06 Mar 10 - 02:37 PM Hi Gavin. Haven't seen you in years. Good to know that you are still alive, and organizing a Folk Festival. Are animals allowed? T D L< |
Subject: RE: Frittenden Festival 20th March 2010 From: GUEST Date: 06 Mar 10 - 03:56 PM Can your animals sing or dance? ;-) The pub has a dog, so I guess you'd be safe on that score, so long as it likes traditional music, old fashioned songs and step dancing to fiddles... Gav |

Whether or not we can sing has been questioned- but we do it anyway. Dancing is definitely out though. We like dogs, even though we are a pair of spotty cats. Subject: RE: Frittenden Festival 20th March 2010 From: Richard Bridge Date: 07 Mar 10 - 03:54 PM I should like to try Frittenden again (and get there early to get in) but I will be busy on the 20th preparing for the Lower Coke session on the 21st. But if you want to let your hair down a bit Gavin after your stresses of the Saturday, you would be very welcome at the Nag's Head. Noon till about 5, 6, or 7. |
