In the spirit of recession busting impromptu "pop up" venues, a one off storytelling club night, hosted by Billy Teare and Kathleen O'Sullivan.

As a consultant on storytelling and the inspiration behind clubs such as the Dublin Yarnspinners, (as well as many of the new wave of storytellers), internationally acclaimed storyteller/folk artist, Billy Teare puts the mayhem into May, along with Music, Magic and More, in a feast of modern and traditional tales, monologues, rhymes, chants and audience participation.

Appearing with Billy is renowned traditional Irish singer, Kathleen O Sullivan. She has toured extensively with Billy throughout the UK and Ireland, with future work in America planned.

You are guaranteed a warm welcome and great evening of entertainment from Billy and Kathleen, along with some music, songs and stories from the floor.

An intimate acoustic performance so RELAX, LISTEN AND ENJOY!

"They weave an enchanting tapestry of narration and sung chorus . Engaging and inspiring for all ages."
Janet Atherton (Culture Team Librarian SEELB): Lisburn Tale Tellers
"...Billy Teare and Kathleen O'Sullivan thoroughly entertained a Lisburn Tale Tellers audience at the New Year gig in Lisburn City Library. . .We were treated to stories, traditional Irish song, a beautiful and charming rendition of Yeats' Stolen Child, with Billy reciting and Kathleen singing, music of the jaw harp and harmonica, juggling, a hilarious take on Hamlet. . . As one audience member commented . . . There was a little bit of everything there. "

Does anyone have a link to a sample of the Billy Teare / kathleen o Sullivan version of Stolen child, the description fits with a version I am trying to track down where there was a mix of spoken parts (male Irish accent) and singing (female)

OR

is there another version that is a mix of spoken and singing (Irish male speaking, female singing ). I heard a version on radio about 18 months ago on BBC iPlayer listen again, it was either Genevieve tudors Radio Shropshire program or Colum Sands Folk Club on Radio Ulster ???

Hello, don't know if you ever found another version.

Ours (which is our very own arrangement) is on our site:

http://www.billyteare.com/aboutkathleen.htm

At the bottom of the 'About Kathleen' page there's a little clip of us doing this piece live.

All the best

Thats it, thank you so much. Thats a super combination of poetry and singing and the site even gives the details of where the song arrangement has come from - I will look it up. Hurrah.

There are some good poetry/music combos in the folk radio mix section at the moment - try 'weaving the land' which features heaney and the simon emmerson 'weirdy' mix
