Subject: Review: Wheeler Street From: GUEST,Lily Date: 06 May 10 - 06:03 PM Hi all, Sorry if I get this a bit wrong, new here and been lurking for a while. Just noticed the Sweeps thread is up and was wondering if anyone who went there saw a band called Wheeler Street? I hadn't heard of them before but the marquee saved me from the rain and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of talent and vitality this young band have. Anyone know anything more about them? Thanks, Lily. x |
Subject: RE: Review: Wheeler Street From: melodeonboy Date: 06 May 10 - 06:19 PM Having seen them a number of times and having spent a lot of time with them in sessions, I know them reasonably well. They're a vibrant and exciting young band. As you say, Lily, oodles of talent and vitality. What I also find striking, given that they are, I believe, in their late teens/early twenties, is the respect and understanding they have for and of traditional music. A joy to watch as a band, and great contributors in sessions/singarounds. They're also lovely people who are great company. |
