Well, that makes me feel better... I was thinkin' that no one, other than me, follows "Idol"... I love it... I look forward every year to the auditiohns... Reminds me of the "Gong Show" and then it becomes a different show with all these very talented kids blossoming right there before our eyes... Hey, it's music, and I'd bet that had there been a show like this 390 or 40 years ago that alot of folks here would have been in there trying to compete... I think I would have..

As a music lover, I don't understand the fascination with American Idol. The only decent singer to come out of the whole series is Carrie Underwood, and she has both the looks and the talent that she would have become a star without the show.

But, to answer the question - Crystal, because she has better hair. I've not heard either one sing. I saw their photos in the newspaper this morning.

Good singers are a dime a dozen and I personally know probably several dozen good ones. Crystal has more than a good voice, she has a unique voice and persona, a sound and style that seems to be star quality in my opinion. Reminds me a bit of Janis Joplin, a look she apparently seeks. Lee seems to be a nice guy with a good voice, but no star quality.

(Not that I admit watching it often...)

I'm a Crystal Fan since early on. Look up her originals on You tube. Farmers Daughter, Toledo, Put your Guitar Down, Finally Got it Right. They are just AWESOME. She is a true talent!

It's a shame that they aren't allowed to sing full length songs - just shorter versions. And I wish they were allowed to sing original material. But it's not my show. Having said that - Crystal by a mile.

At least it's one of the few shows that features live singer and not lipsynchers. Unless it's an established star. What's up with that?

I just watched the finale, and I'm as bummed out as I was back in 2003 when Ruben officially "beat" Clay by less than .5 percentage points (only to outdo the "winner" both in CD sales and concert ticket sales by a mile).    Both Lee and Crystal are good singers, but Crystal has a much more dynamic and distinctive style, and I don't see Lee standing out from the crowd of similar-sounding male singers.

American Idol's "voting" system is so f**ked up that it defies any sort of common sense. There is not much point in "voting" when you can put in thousands of votes from any single phone line plus unlimited text messaging votes (if you can afford 10 cents a vote or you have unlimited text messaging). Nobody's 1 to 10 to 100 to even 1000 votes is going to change the outcome on the finale.

Anyway, I really do like Crystal and hope she does well, but I have a feeling this season's aftermath will be a little like Season 2: the winner will sell modestly for a while, backed by the AI/19E folks, and the runner-up will sell better but not become the star s/he could have been with the backing of the AI/19 powers that be.

Oh, well.

Oh no! I haven't seen the finale yet, but this feels as bad as the brilliant Adam Lambert losing last year to some guy whose name I don't even remember.
Still, Adam is a star in the UK now, so maybe Crystal can be our American Idol too.

Simple... she is gonna be a HUGE star anyway and buddy has been given a lift up for future promotion. Don't forget that Simon and others are gonna get their cut so it's just business.

I know she is far more talented than he, so it doesn't matter to me if she "lost".

I hate to say it but I think America voted for the singer with the smallest ass. Sex appeal. Talent be damned.

But when you think about it they are only trying to pick a pop singer - not an artist. The singers who have really influenced modern music - Dylan, Lennon and McCartney, Paul Simon ect - wouldn't even make it past the first audition. Young Woody Guthries need not apply.....
