Subject: Saddleworth Festival From: GUEST,Vin2 Date: 28 May 10 - 11:47 AM Well it's June next week which means just 6 or so weeks to Saddleworth (Uppermill) festival - the 13th. Rumours are a-foot again that it could be the last due to three pretty wet years and recession etc. Lets hope not. I've camped every year (bar one) and tho it can be grim on the camping field when the elements are cruel it hasn't spoilt the festival for me as most to the music is inside venues. Always some good stuff for every taste including lots of younger talent on show - check out the web site on www.safra.org.uk Hope to see y'all there ! |

Provided Pete Mac is in fine voice, we will get him onto that stage. Who can forget his rendition of Brendan's voyage when we had the power cut a number of Saddleworth's ago eh? The song kept going around my head for weeks after. |

Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival - 16-18 July, 2010 From: Vin2 Date: 29 Jun 10 - 08:50 AM Yes Orson, i remember that year of the power cut well. The Hometowners with Pete's awsome voice kept it going brilliantly, fair play to em ! Brendan's voyage is a cracking song and a couple of other faves of mine that Pete often sings is Durham Jail (Gaol) and Over the Hills. Below is a nice web site with pics of the lads and lots of others. Aye Linda, y'all sharpening your pitch forks (sorry tuning forks) in readiness for 13th battle o't rosies ? http://www.folkimages.com/hometowners.htm |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival - 16-18 July, 2010 From: GUEST,Orson Trap Date: 29 Jun 10 - 10:30 AM Thanks for that Vin2 (is there a 1 and will there be a 3?), I have browsed that site before, well worth a look. See you at Saddleworth, we have sent a request to the council for good weather this year. Mind you, the Civic Hall was re-christened 'The Saddleworth Sauna' some years ago by Julie Matthews when she and Chris came off stage. It was so hot and still. Off to Cleck this weekend. |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival - 16-18 July, 2010 From: GUEST,SophFFS Date: 29 Jun 10 - 03:04 PM Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been at Glastonbury. Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival - 16-18 July, 2010 From: Vin2 Date: 30 Jun 10 - 03:58 AM Cheers Orson, Hope the council comes good with your request and i've made a similar request to the 'creator of the universe and all that we know' and will dance a sun jig the night b4 to be sure. If that fails i guess i'll just have to use me snorkel again to get back to me tent! P.S yes Linda, am sure you're sharpening your pitchfork (sorry tuning fork) for the 13th battle of the Rose. Just hope Lancs do better than our cricket team are currently doing at Old Trafford ! |
