Subject: Saddleworth Festival
From: GUEST,Vin2
Date: 28 May 10 - 11:47 AM

Well it's June next week which means just 6 or so weeks to Saddleworth (Uppermill) festival - the 13th.

Rumours are a-foot again that it could be the last due to three pretty wet years and recession etc. Lets hope not.

I've camped every year (bar one) and tho it can be grim on the camping field when the elements are cruel it hasn't spoilt the festival for me as most to the music is inside venues.

Always some good stuff for every taste including lots of younger talent on show - check out the web site on www.safra.org.uk

Hope to see y'all there !

6 or so weeks and we'll be over there too, wellies and waterproofs at the ready!!! Looking forward to catching up Vin. It'll be brilliant as always - and I/We so hope it isn't the last. Jan and Pete were over in Cottingham recently, - a great night - , and they gave us a mini progress report. God bless the organisers of these events, (and give us 50% more sunshine this year please?)

Preparations are well under way in Lancashire, many a cunning and devious plan has been laid before Our Leader Of Men, Mister Sid of Euxton. From all these he will direct, disect, and conduct the ultimate downfall of "Yon Tykes lot" in the War of the Roses contest.
Start saving-up Raymond it looks like the ale's on you! to Hell with the weather!, LANCASHIRE will win, wet or dry!

well! Mr Padgett seems to be keeping very close company with the Gentleman who will be the "independant" M.C. It even seems that they pray to the same God together!
Lancastrians redouble your efforts, but if it all goes wrong, I've an inkiling where the trouble may lie!
Back to the cunning schemes board!
Cheers Scowie.

Jimmy I believe prays at the alters of St John and St Tetley after trips out with his Black Dog rounding up the Black Sheep from the Flowers bed.

His dog of course is a Pedigree which he has difficulty keeping from the Blonde!

Methinks the war has started already or at least the opening shots and sharpening up of cross county wit and repartee. Stanley a co. will have to be on't ball this time no dowt about it as the Yorkies will be out for revenge. Can't wait!

23 threads on this posting so far and still no dates for this festival!!

It's Friday 16 to Sunday 18 July 2010 folks.

Hope that helps and provides some clarity so people know WHEN to come and put this festival in their diaries.

Must have been an oversight! Just thought I would help out. Doh!

Did mention up above that folks can also check out the safra web site on www.safra.org.uk which tells all you need to know cept of course where the driest bit is for pitching your tent - but that won't matter this year cos it's going to be gloriously hot and dry, innit?

For the benefit of Saucy Nancy, Linda, Soldier Boy, Vin 2 & others.
The Sat night museum gig features (up to now):
John Prentics & Jill Drury, David Swann, Hissyfit,
Stanley Accrington, Hometowners & Tony D and all held in control by MC Dave Howden.
PS Don't forget the sound crews at the festival, especially he who knackers himself leaping about every year in the Civic Hall.

"Sorry about that constable, it went off while I was cleaning it"!

Provided Pete Mac is in fine voice, we will get him onto that stage.
Who can forget his rendition of Brendan's voyage when we had the power cut a number of Saddleworth's ago eh? The song kept going around my head for weeks after.

Yes Orson, i remember that year of the power cut well. The Hometowners with Pete's awsome voice kept it going brilliantly, fair play to em !

Brendan's voyage is a cracking song and a couple of other faves of mine that Pete often sings is Durham Jail (Gaol) and Over the Hills.

Below is a nice web site with pics of the lads and lots of others.

Aye Linda, y'all sharpening your pitch forks (sorry tuning forks) in readiness for 13th battle o't rosies ?

Thanks for that Vin2 (is there a 1 and will there be a 3?), I have browsed that site before, well worth a look.
See you at Saddleworth, we have sent a request to the council for good weather this year. Mind you, the Civic Hall was re-christened 'The Saddleworth Sauna' some years ago by Julie Matthews when she and Chris came off stage. It was so hot and still.
Off to Cleck this weekend.

It'd be lovely to see some of you there. Come and say hello! (I'll be the one with dark hair and a frenzied look on my face!

Cheers Orson, Hope the council comes good with your request and i've made a similar request to the 'creator of the universe and all that we know' and will dance a sun jig the night b4 to be sure. If that fails i guess i'll just have to use me snorkel again to get back to me tent!

P.S yes Linda, am sure you're sharpening your pitchfork (sorry tuning fork) for the 13th battle of the Rose. Just hope Lancs do better than our cricket team are currently doing at Old Trafford !
