Subject: RE: BS: alison needs your good thoughts From: Bill D Date: 15 Mar 11 - 07:54 PM there is no way to ease it all... but Mick knows how to find words that can be something to focus on at the bad times. There is no way to easily reconcile the thoughts "I don't want him to suffer" and "I don't want to lose him" Just know that SO many friends care and send all the good wishes possible. |

The hardest thing to do is to make sure a loved one is comfortable and loved while you watch them prepare for their journey. I'm glad you were able to get him home, so you could be with him. |

Subject: RE: BS: alison needs your good thoughts From: Big Mick Date: 15 Mar 11 - 06:58 PM Fair One, I am aching more than I can describe for you and yours. I would give anything to be of some sort of assistance. The Blessing and the Curse of the internet is that we become close to a world wide community.. When we make friends, often they are far away and all we can offer is our thoughts. I offer you, Mark and the kids my thoughts of love, and of understanding as you walk this part of the trail. If all of life is a lesson, then we need to understand that lessons and the gaining of wisdom are to prepare us for the next thing. And so it is now. These passages are from Anam Cara by O'Donohue. Be a full bucket, pulled up the dark way of a well then lifted out into light. Something opens our wings, something makes boredom and hurt disappear. Someone fills the cup in front of us, we taste only sacredness. and finally to Mark: May you be peaceful and happy and in the presence of those who really care for you. May your going be sheltered and your welcome assured. May your soul smile in the embrace of your anam cara (soul friend) |
Subject: RE: BS: alison needs your good thoughts From: Maryrrf Date: 15 Mar 11 - 06:35 PM Oh Alison I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that things go as gently as possible for Mark, and that God's grace will help with the healing for everyone. Candles lit. |
Subject: RE: BS: alison needs your good thoughts (updated) From: alison Date: 15 Mar 11 - 06:16 PM Hi everyone could really do with some good thoughts again. unfortunately this time the news isn't so good. Mark decided to go back to Ireland and see his family in January - while he was there he got very sick and ended up in hospital. He just couldn't keep any food down. I managed to get him back to Australia - watching him steadily worse - by the time we got to Singapore he was in so much pain he ended up in a wheelchair - got him back to Sydney and within 3 hours he was admitted to hospital again here. and he has been in hospital every since the end of January. when they opened him up to try to do the surgery - they found that the cancer had spread to his bowel - so they closed him up again. since then the doctors have tried everything they can think of but it looks like the nerve supply just isn't working for the area below the stomach - hence fluids (that is all he can have) get as far as there, gathers for a while, then he vomits. now he has a tube draining his stomach contents into a bag. a few days agao they told him there is nothing more they can do - and are taking down the fluids and he is coming home for me to look after as is his wish. He just wants to get back to the kids for whatever time he has left. Ryan & Shannon are taking it very hard - and I know it is going to be really difficult to watch their dad get even weaker. telling them that there was nothing more that could be done is probably the toughest thing I have ever had to do so please, pray, light candles and do the good stuff you do - I just don't want him to suffer thanks for listening alison |

Subject: RE: BS: alison needs your good thoughts From: alison Date: 26 Oct 10 - 11:04 PM just a quick update - in the last scan the tumour is too small to measure, (woo hoo!!!) so the plan is now 5-6 weeks of radiotherapy then surgery (to make sure it can't come back) in Feb. the docs have not been in this position before - the new treatment is working very well. needless to say everyone is very relieved. here's hoping mark copes with the radiotherapy as well as he coped with the chemo. thanks for all of your support - keep up the good work slainte alison |

This is very good energy directed your way. If you haven't visited it, you might want to visit LilyFester's cancer and chemo thread. It will bring tears of joy to your eyes. :-) SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: alison needs your good thoughts From: alison Date: 10 Jul 10 - 12:00 AM Today I received a mysterious parcel from the USA. It was a beautiful hand crocheted (quite sure that isn't spelt right)shawl with a note saying that is was a "mudcat hug". I was absolutely blown away. It is just amazing that someone I have never met, who lives on the other side of the world, would have been so thoughtful about someone else who they barely know ............. its amazing how close a love of music can bring people ........... (Max - it has been said before but this is a great little community you have here) thank you very much Jacqui.C for your amazing thoughtfulness & kindness. Mark has finished his first set of chemo - & with a bit of swapping around of drugs he seems to have most of the side effects under control. So he has a week off before the next round. slainte alison |
