The Hedy West and Bill Clifton record "Getting Folk Out of the Country" has never been an easy item to find, but now you need not worry. Buy the new CD version from Bear Family Records.

I looked at their website today and it says "ready for shipping"...

Hi PDQ,

Thanks for the alert. That one is definitely at the top of my shopping list. Now, when is someone going to reissue all those Topic LPs of Hedy, plus the ones she did for Vanguard?

Sure am. They were

Old Times and Hard Times. Topic        12T 117
Pretty Saro. 12T 146
Ballads. Topic 12T 163.

Magic, all three of them.

Old Times and Hard Times was in fact reissued in the USA by Folk-Legacy (CD 32), but I can't see any signs of the other two I'm afraid.

on the Bill Clifton album, or Corrections, Additions -
PLEASE SEND UPDATES.
THANKS! Thomas.

Thomas,

That's some list. A far bigger discogrpahy than I would have imagined.

Please note folks that Old Times and Hard Times, a wonderfulu disc and my personal favourite of her three Topic albums, is on the list as a Topic download.

If you haven't already got it, get in there and get it.

Love Bil Clifton.

I remember seeing him several times in the early 60s when he toured England with the Echo Mountain Boys, who were "boys at the time e. I think k their average age was 15.

Cheers

Sorry to have omitted date and background about Larkspur - this "label" released many of Hedy's then out of print albums dubbed to CD-r, circa 2000.

There are a number of posts about Larkspur - not entirely clear if any were authorized, probably not.

The facebook Fledgling site indicates some additional (other) unissued Hedy West recordings will be issued at a later date, they know about the unissued Topic album, maybe they may be persuaded to release it. I think much depends on the sales of her new Grammaw
album.

The MainlyNorfolk site has a good list of Hedy's recordings
https://mainlynorfolk.info/folk/records/hedywest.html

I've posted to mudcat in various threads what I know of the reissues.

Cheers, Thomas.

When I first saw Bill Clifton- must have been 1966 in Exeter, he had a young banjo picker called Pete Roberts with him. Is he still around?

Does anyone else remember?
