My newest CD, Live Performances, is about to go into production. I have the master in hand, or more accurately, I have the master in front of my on my computer table, and I will deliver it to Oasis CD Manufacturing this coming week. No more plastic jewel cases for me! This time I'm ordering their eco-friendly Green Forest Wallets. My one and only step backwards is that the CDs will be shrink wrapped.

Live Performances consists of 15 tracks recorded at various venues in three countries -- the USA, Israel, and the UK -- over the past five years. Some of these recordings were the house mixes taken from the sound board, some were the audio tracks of video recordings, and one was a bootleg recording made by someone in the audience without my prior knowledge. No one intended to release any of these recordings on a CD. Nevertheless, sound engineer Ray Korona worked his usual magic and turned whatever raw material he was given into a very presentable product. It really sounds great.

My good friend good friend Anne Price sings with me on six tracks. Anne is an established artist in her own right, and I am both honored and delighted whenever we get the chance to perform together. Three other tracks were recorded at the Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash, a round robin songfest held in New York City every July. In each instance, many of the other musicians on the program can be heard providing spontaneous accompaniment.

The official release will be Saturday ninght, November 20, 2010, at the Peoples' Voice Cafe in New York City. However, I suspect Live Performances will be available as early as September. Please follow this thread for periodic updates.

My new Live Performances CD went into production at the Oasis factory last week, and the finished product should be in hand by mid-September. Meanwhile, the official release concert has been confirmed. As originally planned, it will be Saturday night, November 20, 2010, when Anne Price and I appear at the Peoples' Voice Cafe in New York City along with special guest artist Hillel Arnold. The Peoples' Voice Cafe is located in the Community Church of New York at 40 East 35th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues in Midtown Manhattan. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the show starts promptly at 8:00 PM.

Let me add that 5 of the 15 tracks on Live Performances were recorded when Anne and I performed together at the Walthamstow Folk Club in London this past May 9.

Now here's a bargain that's hard to beat! The CD is GREAT! Steve is always at his best in front of an audience, and this CD brings that special musical energy right into your home or car. I attended the CD Launch concert and only wish that whole performance were available on CD as well!

Let me thank Ada, who came all the way from Rochester by Lake Ontario to New York City to attend the CD release celebration on November 23. Sales that night were brisk, and I now have only 150 copies of Live Performances left. When they are gone, the CD will not be reissued, so go ahead and order one from CD Baby while they are still in stock.
