Could somebody possibly post a link either to the thread or to the videos which Ian Anderson put up on YouTube of the festival (can't remember which one it was but it was early seventies, the one with a young Martin Simpson in pink trousers, Pete Coe also featured as I recall ).

TIA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fulcKRqABk is, I think, what you're looking for - or if not that one, it'll be one of the frootsmag vids linkled from that one.

Wot a strange coincidence, I only posted the link to that performance earlier today in the thread about Masters Of War

It's this one

the most interesting and exciting singer on the folk scene today, that was how Martin Simpson was introduced.
personally I think Simpson is an instrumental virtuoso, rather than a parrticularly exciting or interesting singer, he is also a very good song accompanist, Masters of War is a very good version, Which he interprets very well despite the unecessary irritating fake american accent.

Not a folk festival, by the way, but a gathering of Stagfolk Folk Club, run by Lawrence Heath in Shackleford, near Godalming in Surrey.

Stagfolk videos are the 'NOT The Finger in the Ear Show' vids on You tube

That's because we were all young then , Leadfingers.

Me, of course, I'm still young, although for some strange reason I don't look young anymore.

Must go now and sing a quick burst of "My Back Pages" ...

Yes, Leadfingers, I spotted you in Part 2 of the Bracknell 1988 vids. Not to mention the Admiral singing Santianna in the Cellar!

Kitty
