Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST Date: 30 Aug 10 - 05:27 AM And it is great. Indeed those quicker ones amongst you may note the tune at track 8. In answer to your next question - yes it is that one!! |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,surreysinger sans cookie Date: 30 Aug 10 - 06:41 AM And if you're going to be at the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust Day in Stowmarket this weekend, I should have had a small supply of "Eloise" from Ralphie by then which I will have available for sale on me at the non-postage and packing price of £12 ... in the time honoured words of the ice-cream van .. ."Stop me and buy one" !! (Feedback that I have had from two or three who purchased and heard the merchandise at Whitby was that they considered it to be lovely). Unnamed guest ... yes indeed . I assume you're referring to the composer rather than the tune though ?? LOL |

Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,Gadaffi Date: 02 Sep 10 - 03:49 AM Be outside The Sun at Chaversham on Saturday lunchtime, Ralphie, and persuade me to dip my hand in my pocket. I'll be the one NOT wearing a kaftan! |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 02 Sep 10 - 04:02 AM Gadaffi. Sadly won't be at The Hop Fest this year...But Mike Wheeler will happily relieve you of your earthly pounds! |

Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: pavane Date: 02 Sep 10 - 06:59 AM Ralphie, if you set up a Paypal account, you can take credit card payments from anywhere. Of course, they do take a cut, and I have seen a lot of criticism of them online, but I have never had problems myself. |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,Gadaffi Date: 02 Sep 10 - 11:26 AM Next questions, Ralphie: (a) will you accept euros? (b) Mike Wheeler, who he? (you must be aware of my useless memory for faces ...) |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Will Fly Date: 02 Sep 10 - 11:31 AM I use PayPal to both pay for goods and take payment for my own DVD sales. They do take a small cut of sales but I've never had any problem with them, and it's a very convenient way to do business. |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: The Sandman Date: 02 Sep 10 - 12:24 PM I have a website that takes pay pal, I have found it very good and would recommend it, best of luck with your new cd. |

Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,surreysinger sans cookie Date: 02 Sep 10 - 04:09 PM Sadly I shan't be going to Stowmarket this weekend as planned due to ill health, so will not be selling any of Ralphie's CDs for him there after all. However, as I understand it, they will be available from the CD stall on site ... so if you're going, and haven't already purchased a copy of this little gem, keep your eyes peeled, and ensure your own copy!! |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Sep 10 - 01:01 AM It is indeed a little gem, and not of the lettucey kind. I'm not the world's biggest concertina fan, but these tunes are delightful. They're played skillfully, thoughtfully and enthusiastically; there's contrast; there are some old favourites and others completely new to me, although not the world. It is a collection of different pieces, rather than a conglomeration of the same 3 tunes, played 14 times which so many CDs these days sound like. Only one bugbear - when ripping the CD to the computer (we store all our music on a separate hard drive, for transferral to MP3, or in case of accident/fire/divorce proceedings), there is no info on the CD, no track listing, no artist or even a title. Or is it just our computer being touchy? It is a very restful album, even the artwork is calm and gentle. Well worth the money and one that will be played often I think. It gets **** and added to my 'favourites' list! Thank you, Ralphie. A far cry from the last CD I got from you! :D LTS (That's four stars by the way, not an expletive). |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Ralphie Date: 03 Sep 10 - 01:35 AM Thanks for the kind words Liz. It was recorded during the winter, and maybe looking out of the attic window at all that snow we had put me into a more reflective mood! It's particularly nice to hear that you like the arrangements. I spent a long time thinking it through. Knowing that it was destined to be a "tunes" CD...(You don't want to hear me singing!), it was important that I provided some light and shade in the material that I chose. I could have done an hour of English dance tunes, but so many people have done that. So, I just trawled through what I laughingly call my brain, and picked the tunes that have a relevance to various parts of my life. (Yes, I hear you say..."Glad that wasn't my life!") As for the lack of digi info on the CD....I know nuffink! I've never understood how that sort of thing is done. I'm still living in the LP era!!! Thanks Liz. See you soon hopefully. |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,Gadaffi Date: 03 Sep 10 - 04:59 AM Ralph, Have you the nerve to drop one in to Gav? He just lives up the road from me, and know he loves the sound of a duet concertina being played properly :0) Okay, then - REFRESH! |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,LDT Date: 03 Sep 10 - 05:33 AM I enjoyed it....very regal. :) Must get back to trying to learn to play navy lark... ;) Signed, 'a yoof' |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: olddude Date: 03 Sep 10 - 09:25 AM Absolutely wonderful !!! been listening to the website ... Thank you for the link ... great great job |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Will Fly Date: 03 Sep 10 - 09:43 AM Liz - did you use iTunes, while online, to import the CD to your hard drive? If you do, the iTunes will automatically quiz the central database to find the artist, CD title and tune titles when you insert the CD in the drive. All should then appear in the iTunes window. You import the CD into your iTunes Library and - lo and behold - there you have all the info! It worked for me, at any rate. |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,surreysinger sans cookie Date: 03 Sep 10 - 11:23 AM So are you going to order the whole CD Old Dude? Go on, you know you want to! LOL |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 04 Sep 10 - 01:26 AM Hi Gadaffi Yes I know that Gavin likes the sound of a Duet being played properly (Lol!). When he stumps up the cash he can have mine!!!!! (It's OK, he's a friend and a fellow Hackney Martian. Doesn't mean he gets a freebie though!) |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Surreysinger Date: 07 Sep 10 - 10:51 AM Ralphie's CD got an airing on Genevieve Tudor's Sunday programme ... she pronounced that she could have played anything from it, and that it was "glorious" ... what more could one ask for? Go buy one :-) |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Surreysinger Date: 02 Oct 10 - 05:13 PM If anyone is going to Lewes Folk Festival, I shall have a supply of Ralphie's CD on my personage on the Sunday ... stop me and buy one! (Your opportunities to do so are dwindling by the moment ... he has already sold 60% of the copies he had pressed, and doesn't plan to run a second batch) ... to use that good old phrase, once they're gone, they're gone! LOL |
Subject: RE: Ralphies new CD 'Eloise' From: Alan Day Date: 02 Oct 10 - 05:35 PM Well worth purchasing. I shall be doing a review shortly. Al |
