The answers are Yes and No - we're still singing out of the old hymnal.
Not as many Welsh speakers as in the past, but we keep the traditions alive. Going strong, since 1884!
Glad your event went well. Good for the voice and the soul!

BTW, we had a good time this afternoon. Not a huge crowd, but none who came went away less than happy with the way they'd spent their time.

Unfortunately, we still haven't got the tune to "God's Ford". The lyrics were in The Hymn about a year ago. God may drive a Ford, but we know the disciples used a Honda, presumably an SUV, since the Scriptures tell us the disciples were All in One Accord. Sorry. ;-)

The lyrics to "www.jesus" are here on the Mudcat somewhere, as are (I think) those to "Internet to Glory", which is sung to the tune of "The Royal Telephone".

I probably won't be able to make the Gymanfa Ganu—the previous weekend is the Esperanto convention in Berkeley, so my travel funds and energies will probably be depleted, but I'd love to and I will if I can! Diolch am y gwahoddiad! ;-)

I know Mountain Railway, but could you post the words to
# God's Ford [pending tune]
# Internet to Glory
and do you use original tunes?
We'd be glad to see you at our Welsh hymn sing this summer -

This afternoon (spaghetti feed at noon, hymn-sing at 2 pm) we are going to present the same hymns (though of course the People's Choice numbers may vary, and Bruce Sagor will be adding two pieces) again (to accommodate folks who missed the first one). All are welcome. Anybody in the Seattle area who likes a hymn-sing, come on down.

It's coming right up this Sunday, 2 pm.

The lineup is pretty much as shown above, but the Technology Medley has been shortened to

*Turn Your Radio On
*Royal Telephone/Internet to Glory
*Life's Railway to Heaven

and

*Just a Little Talk with Jesus

has been added to the Pentecostal Dispensational Nostalgia Medley

and

*By the Rivers of Babylon

has been substituted for Bariki Baba

Gee, Haruo, you're makin' me consider hanging out in Seattle and extra day to come to that there stompin' hymnfest thing.   But then your time slot conflicts with the bluegrass/fiddle tunes/classic country/etc. jam at the Grateful Bread Coffee House (1 to 4 PM on the 4th Sunday of each month), instigated by Jack Boyer.   Looks like mebbe I'll hafta instigate a foot-stompin' hymnfest of my own at one of the churches here.

As part of the buildup, looks like we'll be singing one verse of "Royal Telephone" and two of "Internet to Glory" in morning worship this coming Sunday.

Susan, I wish I could promise to RECORD it all, but I must confess our recording equipment is not great, nor is our stock of recording engineers to run it. In any case a hymn-sing is not meant to be recorded and listened to, but to be participated in. If you need any of the music to recreate it at your end, I'd be happy to send it.

As for tickets, it's free. We do take a freewill offering to support missions of our local ABC Region, the Evergreen Association. At the last one in April, we took in $333, which was split three ways, equally, among Tent Cities (homeless group), Burmese Refugee Resettlement, and Nzunga Mabudiga's eye clinic in Cap Haïtien, Haiti; I matched this with a $111 donation to the Region itself (wouldn't do to go missionizing and forget to pay the electric bill).

I think anybody who has a keyboardist and/or guitarist (or even a decent accordion player ;-) ), a sanctuary, and a dozen or so hymn-lovin' types, can recreate what we do here. The only rules on the PEOPLE'S CHOICE items are 1) it's gotta be in our hymnal (or the requester has to be prepared to accompany it him/herself or lead it a cappella), and 2) we reserve the right to cut it down to 2 stanzas, 3 if you're lucky.

I hope I can come up with a (if not "the") tune to "God's Ford" in time! If anybody has it, please post or send!
