Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Desert Dancer Date: 03 Sep 10 - 02:33 PM lots more info, especially this one. Do check the video, if you haven't already. Somewhat closer to (my) home: 1st (ever) Abbots Bromliad, on Monday. ~ Becky in Long Beach, a long way away |

Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Desert Dancer Date: 07 Sep 10 - 02:05 PM There's a fabulous collection of pictures from the event on flickr, here. (These are multiple photographers' uploads, unsorted, so ultimately there's certain amount of redundancy. But, somebody out there is a really great photographer.) I only count about half a dozen sides represented there, though I didn't get through the full set of pics. Weren't there to be more? Any first-hand reports? ~ Becky in Long Beach |
Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Herga Kitty Date: 07 Sep 10 - 04:20 PM Brilliant, exhilarating pictures! But like Becky says, in addition to Hammersmith and Mortimers, what other sides? Kitty |

Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Desert Dancer Date: 07 Sep 10 - 07:45 PM A couple of good articles, although with a few glitches in their numbers: Before event: Thoroughly modern morris dancing - says "100 sides", when it was to be more like 100 side members After event: 5000 Morris Dancers Light Up London's Southbank - relatively little focus on the actual morris dancers present, but good overall ~ Becky in Long Beach |
Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Bonzo3legs Date: 08 Sep 10 - 08:01 AM Hopefully someone will have recorded the performance of the Morris On album - the BBC perhaps?? |

Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Herga Kitty Date: 08 Sep 10 - 11:54 AM And thanks to the links provided by Becky, I now know that the side dancing in corsets are Belles of London City - how different from the Beaux! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Desert Dancer Date: 08 Sep 10 - 12:29 PM The Belles area photogenic group, aren't they! |
Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Desert Dancer Date: 08 Sep 10 - 01:31 PM "are a" not "area"! |
Subject: RE: Morris Dance South Bank 4/5 September From: Paul Davenport Date: 09 Sep 10 - 01:10 PM 'how different from the Beaux!' - how much more refreshing and, when you examine the record, how very traditional! |
