Subject: RE: Folk music in Bilbao Spain From: RamblinStu Date: 25 Sep 10 - 06:16 PM El Residence Cafe is a small cafe bar, I went on a Wednesday when they have "folk music". It was predominantly an Irish tunes session, played by very keen locals, who obviously have their set pieces they play each week, but one chap did sing The Wild Rover in Catalan at ninety miles an hour, very odd that. They were a friendly bunch and most welcoming. It gets started at half nine and finishes at eleven, the bar is full and it does get hot, plus they have had complaints about the noise from locals so when the playing gets a bit raucous they close the door which increases the temperature somewhat. Finally note that if anyone does plan to go El Residence Cafe, here, as in lots of other bars I visited in Bilbao, they do not have the same no smoking rules that we have to endure Stuart Pendrill |
