Subject: CHILDREN OF THE WORLD From: GUEST,Murray on Saltspring Date: 28 Sep 10 - 02:54 PM I've come across a song seemingly called "Children of the World". As far as I can make out, the first words are Children of the world, it's time to raise your voices, Children of the world, it's time to join in song... It's sung by a children's choir, accompanied by a harp. There seem to be umpteen songs with this title, but I can't see this one anywhere. Can anyone direct me to the words [hard to make out on the record], author, composer, record? |

Subject: RE: lyr/info: Children of the World From: Jim Dixon Date: 30 Sep 10 - 12:22 PM Would you believe there are at least 40 different songs called CHILDREN OF THE WORLD? And 150 recordings made by around 80 different artists? Go to Allmusic.com to see a list. Then you might try playing samples until you recognize the one you want. Once you have identified it, if you still need help finding the lyrics, please come back here and ask again in this thread. |

Subject: Lyr Add: CHILDREN OF THE WORLD (Alice Olsen) From: GUEST,Agnes Date: 06 Nov 11 - 12:05 PM Don't know if you're still interested in the answer, but the song is children of the world by Alice Olsen (composer). It's a song written for children's choirs, in fact I sang it in choir as a child. I still know most of it by heart, but there is a small gap: Children of the world, it's time to raise your voices. Children of the world, it's time to join in song. And say "turn those swords into plowshares" for the time of war is done. We choose peace, we choose love, we choose guidance from above, we choose sharing, we choose caring for the world we call our home. We choose hope shining bright turning darkness into light to guide us as we walk the path of peace. Children of the world, it's time to sing of gladness. Children of the world, it's time to sing of joy. And to make a solemn promise. to every girl and boy. We choose peace, we choose love, we choose guidance from above, we choose sharing, we choose caring for the world we call our home. We choose hope shining bright turning darkness into light to guide us as we walk the path of peace. Children of the world, you are the new beginning. Children of the world, it's time to make a start. ...(forgotten line) for every longing heart. We choose peace, we choose love, we choose guidance from above, we choose sharing, we choose caring for the world we call our home. We choose hope shining bright turning darkness into light to guide us as we walk the path of peace. We've come to make a world united to banish anger, hate and fear. We are the promise of our time. We're the children of the world. We choose peace, we choose love, we choose guidance from above, we choose sharing, we choose caring for the world we call our home. We choose hope shining bright turning darkness into light to guide us as we walk the path of peace. To guide us as we walk the path of peace. I can't tell you who is singing the record you listened to. I wasn't even aware there is one. Would you mind sending me a link if it is in the Internet or maybe even load it up if it isn't too much trouble. If there is a legal way to buy it I will, but I haven't found a shop providing it yet. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Info Req: Children of the World (Alice Olsen) From: GUEST Date: 24 Sep 14 - 02:55 PM If my memory serves correct from when I sang this song, the missing lyrics are To make real the dreams and wishes For every longing heart |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Info Req: Children of the World (Alice Olsen) From: GUEST,Alice Olsen Date: 15 May 16 - 04:56 AM I stumbled onto this forum and was moved to find that my song was being discussed. "Guest Agnes" touched my heart and made me cry to know that someone remembered the lyrics of my song from their childhood. As far as recordings go, the only one that I know of is by The Getting' Higher Choir; "Concert For The Earth Charter" 2004. This is the recording with the harp. If someone knows of a different recording I would enjoy knowing about it too. By the way, the missing line is "To make real the dreams and wishes held in every longing heart". Thanks for making my day! |
