Subject: Henry Thomas's Flute From: tomtom Date: 25 Aug 99 - 12:08 PM Does anyone know the specifics on the type of flute Henry Thomas played? I've heard it compared to a pan flute, but I don't really know what that looks like either. thanks, tomtom |
Subject: RE: Henry Thomas's Flute From: Mike Regenstreif Date: 25 Aug 99 - 12:14 PM It was indeed a pan-type flute. I think I've seen it referred to as quills. Mike Regenstreif |

Subject: RE: Henry Thomas's Flute From: CarlZen Date: 25 Aug 99 - 09:08 PM About four years ago I saw Mike Seeger. He played Fishin' Blues and had a set of "quills" on a harmonica rack around his neck. He told some stories about Henry Thomas and some background about the quills. I believe they were basmboo pan flutes. That's what they looked like. |
