Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: Susan of DT Date: 13 Dec 10 - 08:11 AM Thanx, that is what I figured. For those who don't know: Mudcat is on Eastern (USA) time. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 12 Dec 10 - 11:44 AM According to Joe, my previous post is incorrect. Closing time is Midnight, Mudcat time on the 15th. Good bidding, everyone. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 11 Dec 10 - 10:59 PM Closing time is individual to the pieces. I set it at December 15 so that there would be time for people to get their items. I presume, as with eBay, that the closing time would be based upon the time each peice was entered into the auction. I will PM Joe and ask for clarification on this issue. |

Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 04 Dec 10 - 07:57 PM The instruments will go on the auction after the first of the year. There is a lot up there now and they would not get the attention they deserve. |

Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 01 Dec 10 - 10:28 PM It has been brought to my attention that the Burl Ives Sea Songs can be gotten for significantly less at some other sites. I have asked Joe to lower the starting price to $8. It is still a rarity. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 01 Dec 10 - 04:02 PM Just got a box of books from my friend. Burl Ives Sea Songs is a duplicate to one I have so I am putting up on the auction. I have set the price fairly high because of the prices and conditions I have seen posted on line for the same book. Any questions, contact me. PS: She also sent me a copy of the 1 volume Bronson, heh, heh, heh. Happy Chanukah to me. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 01 Dec 10 - 11:15 AM 14 days to go. Christmas is a comin' in. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 30 Nov 10 - 09:35 AM I have refreshed the items which were below the 14 day cutoff. I will make an effort to keep all items on the "current" list. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 30 Nov 10 - 12:01 AM Thank you, also Jeri. I was not aware that active items could drop off the visible auction, either. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: maeve Date: 29 Nov 10 - 11:56 PM My pleasure. Although I can't get the books I'd like to, at least I can help keep some of the information straight. I hope I haven't missed any. Any news on the instruments you mentioned? Maeve |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 29 Nov 10 - 11:53 PM And Thank You, Maeve. I appreciate the help. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 29 Nov 10 - 11:52 PM To clarify the above: When you go to the auction site to check out what is there, set the filter to 30 days. Some of the items have "timed out" at the 14 day setting. |

Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: BrooklynJay Date: 29 Nov 10 - 11:22 PM Yes, the 30 day filter did the trick - many thanks Jeri! Thanks for everyone's help and advice - computers and I have, at best, an adversarial relationship. And EB, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that we can all convene for a chantey sing in NYC on December 17 if the gods smile on us! |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: Jeri Date: 29 Nov 10 - 10:35 PM BrooklynJay, try setting the filter back to 30 days. The American Folk Songs book--no one's outbid you. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 29 Nov 10 - 10:24 PM There was one listing misspelled when I entered it. When I went back to correct it, it created a corrected, almost duplicate listing. At my repuest, Joe removed the incorrect listing. It is also possible that the book is simply hard to find because there are so many books up. Which book is it? Good to hear from you Jay. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: maeve Date: 29 Nov 10 - 10:05 PM BrooklynJay- If you'd care to post the title of the auction item or send a PM to EBarnacle it's likely you'll find an answer. Regards, Maeve |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: BrooklynJay Date: 29 Nov 10 - 10:00 PM A book that I bid on several days ago has now mysteriously vanished from the list of auction items. What happened? |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 29 Nov 10 - 08:41 PM Joe says we don't have the capability at present and that there are no plans to install this feature. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 28 Nov 10 - 09:52 PM That's a worthwhile comment. Do we have that capability? If so, I will work with Joe to start it on this auction. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: Nigel Parsons Date: 28 Nov 10 - 07:35 PM I've put a comment on one of the auctions, but I'll repeat it here. The auction listings don't appear to have the capacity to add a 'Trace' In view of the number of items currently on offer, it would help to have this available. Otherwise I have to remember which items I've bid on, and re-check them periodically. Auctions may become better contested (more cut-throat) if either you could trace the individual items, or, if an automated PM was sent if you get outbid. Cheers Nigel |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: maeve Date: 28 Nov 10 - 05:17 PM It makes no difference to me. You (or the owner) might find it easier to deal with different closing dates when it is time to ship out a boatload of parcels, however. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 28 Nov 10 - 11:58 AM That is true. It is also why I am putting the question to the crowd with plenty of notice. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: Anglo Date: 28 Nov 10 - 02:29 AM Even Mudcat auctions are prone to snipers. People don't bid till the very end. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 27 Nov 10 - 09:44 PM After consulting with a couple of people, I am thinking of moving the closing date for the stuff I added today to December 15, to match the earlier material. I will decide by December 1, based on comments on this thread. The general commentary thus far is that, after about 2 weeks, auctions tend to bog down and go no further. Please comment. I will listen and, if appropriate, respond. |

On checking,it turns out that he is correct. The listing will be corrected and anyone who bid on the incorrect listing can withdraw his or her bid by contacting Joe. Sorry for the error. |
Subject: RE: Auction Notice: A lot of good stuff From: EBarnacle Date: 23 Nov 10 - 10:27 AM Joe said it best: This is a wish list. |
