Subject: BS: My present has arrived! From: Nancy King Date: 14 Dec 10 - 12:19 AM Woo hoo! This morning's mail brought a package from the UK, which I can only assume is from my Secret Santa! I can hardly wait to see what it contains, but I'm gonna be strong and place it, still wrapped as received, under the tree (as soon as I finish decorating said tree...), where it will wait until The Big Day. Thanks, Santa! Nancy |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 14 Dec 10 - 01:34 AM Thanks for starting the thread! I'll check in occasionally to see if all of these packages reach their destinations, and of course, to see if the guesses are correct as to who was the Santa for each Santee. :) SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Barb'ry Date: 14 Dec 10 - 06:21 PM My present has arrived too! I left a note on the other thread but I'll repost on the 'official' one. Many thanks to my Australian santa - at least that was the post mark. I've been good though and put the package under the tree. Thank you, Santa xx |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Anne Lister Date: 15 Dec 10 - 04:37 AM What Barb'ry said ... mine has arrived too and I posted on the other thread. Thank you! |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Bonzo3legs Date: 15 Dec 10 - 10:41 AM So has mine - 3 days after I ordered it, such excellent service!! |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Hollowfox Date: 15 Dec 10 - 12:55 PM My present arrived weeks ago, but I've been having adventures (all turned out just fine), and general attacks of Life (ditto), so I haven't had time to check email, the 'Cat, or other suchlike important stuff. We get the tree next Sunday, and it'll be the first gift to go under it. Many thanks, whoever you are! |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Little Hawk Date: 15 Dec 10 - 01:19 PM The present doesn't arrive! It's always here. ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Bat Goddess Date: 15 Dec 10 - 05:47 PM My Santa has already said I won't be receiving it until just after Christmas. Maybe we'll have the tree decorated by then... Today is Tom's and my "other anniversary" -- double anniversary of when we met and, a year later, when we decided to get married. We've been together 30 years now. Usually we use this occasion to trim the tree and Tom DID get one today, but it's still inside and probably won't get set up and decorated until Saturday (or Sunday, Monday...) Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 15 Dec 10 - 11:50 PM mine arrived from US - opened by zealous Oz Customs & Quarantine officials - I assume cos the dreaded word "straw" appeared as a description of one of the contents. I won't even open the mailer until christmas - tho it has an intriguing feel - maybe there is more than one parcel inside!! THANK YOU Santa in New Hampshire! sandra (eagerly counting the sleeps till christmas morning - tonight & tomorrow & ...) |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 16 Dec 10 - 08:10 AM And by coincidence, mine arrived to the US from OZ- but in pristine condition. Waiting not-so-patiently till the Big Day! |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Becca72 Date: 16 Dec 10 - 09:16 AM I received a notice from the Post Office elves that they have a package for me that was too big for the mailbox. I'll be picking it up on Saturday!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 16 Dec 10 - 10:11 AM Here's hoping the postal threshing machines of various nations treat all of your packages kindly! This year I'm not taking all of the little caloric gifts to the office - there are a growing number of us who avoid the sweets - so I'm making a donation in the office name at my local feed store. They match the donation and put the cash on the Humane Society food account in their store. I'll convert that cash resource into the kind of kilo calories that will go to a good use! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Wolfhound person Date: 16 Dec 10 - 05:23 PM Mine arrived today. Thank you to Santa-who-must-be-in-the-Lewes-area. I'll enjoy trying out the tunes I don't know and spotting the ones that have gone south.... Paws |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: artbrooks Date: 17 Dec 10 - 11:08 PM I have a large box from Kensington, MD. Could it be someone I met at the Getaway? Or one of the Skolnik or Dugard cousins? Unlikely, that. It says "do not open until Christmas"...perhaps there are more clues inside? |

Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Dec 10 - 12:09 AM It looks like people really scrambled to get these gifts sent! (I'm looking forward to the guessing part, if people were able to conceal their identities when they sent packages.) SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Bat Goddess Date: 23 Dec 10 - 04:36 AM I always ID myself with the package (and enclosed letter) -- and prefer it when my Secret Santa does so also. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: GUEST,Wys Santa-ing (out) Date: 23 Dec 10 - 12:58 PM In case Hardi's Santa wondered, his arrived long ago and he is holding it for Christmas. (I tried to send a note on it in another thread at the time.) ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Severn Date: 23 Dec 10 - 07:02 PM I have already stated in another thread that my future present was passed to me a while ago (by squirrels rather than elves!), but through cross-referencing my trusty Getaway directory, figured out that another mammal was involved, whom I shall thank properly later after opening, if I can bear the wait 'til Christmas morn. |

Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 25 Dec 10 - 09:54 PM I have a great book from Joybell - David Suzuki is a personal hero, his science programs were popular years ago. (The Nature of Things). It's interesting to receive a copy of a book from Oz by a Canadian scientist I watched in a northern tier U.S. state in my undergraduate years. :) Thank you, Joy! SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Tig Date: 10 Jul 11 - 02:35 PM A total surprise dropped through my letterbox! It had a note saying Xmas in July - my Pseudo Psecret PSanta has sent me a most wonderful cookery book called The Ellis Island Immigrant Cookbook. It is full of recipes from those who passed through there on the way into the States. Thanks a million PPP - both for the surprise and the book. Love and hugs Tig I understand Silly River Sage is involved in the book and can let you have more details - it's worth it! |

Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 11 Jul 11 - 12:23 PM excellent reading! surely it's time to start pondering upon 2011 Secret Santa? Well, it is Christmas-in-July time here, when folks gather in colder places like the Blue Mountains to have traditional Northern Hemisphere winter Christmas food & fun. |
Subject: RE: BS: My present has arrived! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 11 Jul 11 - 10:45 PM That list was hand-typed from a large form, so my apologies for names I mis-typed. As the saying goes, "you know who you are," even if my typing doesn't make that perfectly clear. I don't mind doing it again, and I think getting started too early makes people complacent, but waiting too close to the holiday makes shipping expensive. I'll watch the calendar and see if I can't choose a time that helps energize folks. I will also reserve the right to not assign people who haven't followed through in the past (disappointing their santee) and who don't have a darn good reason for why the package never arrived. It makes it more fun and fair for everyone else if we sign up to make this gesture and know everyone will do their best to follow through. I get the idea that for some Mudcatters, this surprise gift exchange is the most anticipated part of the holiday season. Let's keep it something special for everyone. Off my soap box. :) SRS |
