Subject: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: CET Date: 29 Dec 10 - 02:24 PM Perhaps one of the Irish Catters can help with this one. I sent an email to the Goilin Singers Club asking for information about next year's Frank Harte Festival, but it got bounced back with a message that it was undeliverable because the recipient's mail box was full. I was wondering specifically about dates and times and performers. (I'm assuming there will be a festival!) Many thanks Edmund |

Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Fergie Date: 29 Dec 10 - 08:45 PM Yes there will be a festival, details will be posted to Mudcat soon. Roll on FHF in September 2011, it's going to bigger and better than ever. Fergus |

Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Fergie Date: 30 Dec 10 - 10:32 PM Dublin Frank Harte Festival 2011 will most likely take place weekend Fri 23rd Sept. Sat 24th Sept. and Sun 25th Sept. I will post the definitive dates here within the next week or ten days. Fergus |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: CET Date: 01 Feb 11 - 04:44 AM We have cashed in our AirMiles and, God wiling, we will be landing in Dublin on 19 September. We will be spending three weeks in Ireland. I'm looking forward to meeting and singing with some Irish Catters. My last musical adventure in Ireland was the Ballyshannon Folk Festival in 1993, so I have some catching up to do. |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: MartinRyan Date: 01 Feb 11 - 05:00 AM Wikipedia has a good, basic outline of Frank's contribution ot the tradition HERE |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Fergie Date: 01 Feb 11 - 07:34 AM Organisation of FHF 2011 is well underway. Artists booked, band organised (secret lineup, but word from sombody who has the inside track tells me it will be; WOW!). The Sunday walk is being organised as I type and I can reveal that it will probably take place in the dead-centre of Dublin and it will definitely be a spiritual experience (even for athiests and skeptics). No doubt, Martin will have a good idea what that cryptic hint indicates. Fergus |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: GUEST,John Date: 01 Feb 11 - 04:10 PM If you can be in Clare on Fri 7th October it would be well worth a trip to Duggans Pub Singers Club, Spancil Hill for What is affectionately known as Robbie's first Fri. Robbie, 84 last December, is absolutely flying. Singing usually starts around 10pm. The first 5 hours are so are usually the best!!!! |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: CET Date: 02 Feb 11 - 05:06 AM Spancil Hill on 7 October is a distinct possibility. We fly back on the 9th. I'd like to go Spancil Hill for the sake of the song (but I'd have to stay in Ireland for a very long time if that was the criterion for where I went.) |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: GUEST,John Date: 04 Feb 11 - 08:59 PM Post here or on Duggans Pub Singers Club page on facebook If you are going to attend and we will look after u well |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Diva Date: 05 Feb 11 - 10:32 AM Beds and flights booked! But not a 6.30am flight on the Monday this time....have learnt that lesson....should have stayed up! Kathy |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Fergie Date: 05 Feb 11 - 10:47 AM So Kathy it's going to be an all nighter this year. Can't wait Fergus |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Diva Date: 05 Feb 11 - 06:28 PM Absolutely Fergus I will be in training starting at Girvan over the Mayday weekend and continuing til Whitby in August :-) |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: Diva Date: 05 Feb 11 - 06:29 PM And don't intended to be on the fizzy water this time for all the good it did me |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: CET Date: 05 Feb 11 - 06:51 PM What kind of accomodations are there in Spancil Hill, and how's the public transportation to Dublin? We would need to be in Dublin by evening on 9 October. |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival 2011 From: CET Date: 20 Mar 11 - 02:38 PM We have booked our B&B in Dublin for 19-26 September. After that plans are still fluid, but will likely involve going to the Aran Islands for a week or so. Any expert local knowledge about how to get to Spancil Hill and where to stay would be welcome. Many thanks Edmund |
