Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: r.padgett Date: 02 Feb 12 - 04:09 AM stay the sprouts then, sorry! Ray |
Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Mrs.Duck Date: 01 Feb 12 - 04:52 PM It is Mr H. Leadfingers stayed last year. There is no problem staying later on Sunday but the function room is used for Sunday lunches and the bar isn't really big enough but I do own a variety of gazebos and party size double gazebo which we could put up. Would also mean that if the numbers are up and we fancy an off shoot tune session that could also happen during the rest of the weekend. Last year the problem was wind but hopefully that won't happen this year. Presumably once lunches are over we could move back into the function room and carry on into the evening if enough folk are about. |
Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Mr Happy Date: 01 Feb 12 - 05:07 AM Is the camping available Sunday night as well? |

Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Geoff the Duck Date: 27 Jan 12 - 04:29 AM Ray and Raymond - We are talking about Friday 18 May. We are aware that would clash with Doncaster Folk Festival, but that month also has Holmfirth, Shepley and things happening on the May Day bank holiday, so a May weekend will clash with something. Quack! |

Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Mrs.Duck Date: 26 Jan 12 - 06:51 PM Seems whatever weekend there is something on but pub is free on 18th so have pencilled it in. We can have the function room Friday evening and all day Saturday but it is used for Sunday lunches so may put up a party tent/marquee so we can have a session on Sunday as long as not too windy lol Breakfasts will be available both days and we can discuss what we might want as a meal on Saturday. It was a lovely do last year so I hope those who came will return and bring friends. Spread the word :) |
Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Mr Happy Date: 14 Jan 12 - 07:29 AM This year, the former late May bank holiday w/end is Friday 1st June - Monday 4th June, which is when Chester FF is on [my local] However, I'd be interested in coming over to Yorksheer again if the dates are convenient |

Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Geoff the Duck Date: 13 Jan 12 - 03:08 AM foggers - Someone was asking just a couple of days back if there were any plans for another session this year. As far as we are concerned, we are just starting to think beyond Christmastide and haven't got as far as May yet. If we do sort out a weekend, we try not to clash with nearby folk events and we haven't looked at dates of local Folk Festivals yet. We enjoyed last year, and the pub seemed to like us being there, so we probably need to decide fairly soon. I'll tell Mrs Duck you were asking. Quack! Geoff. p.s. From: GUEST,Guest - Did anything actually happen in 2011? I seem to remember revolutions in Egypt and Libya. A royal wedding. Bin Laden got shot. Greece went bust. Kim Jong got Ill, and a few folkies sat in a pub field on a fairly windy weekend in May. Quack! |
Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: GUEST,Guest Date: 13 Jan 12 - 02:10 AM Did anything actually happen in 2011? |

Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Mrs.Duck Date: 01 Apr 11 - 07:49 AM Hopefully there will be something for everyone during the weekend. There are no plans set in stone and at the end of the day it will depend who actually turns up. The landlady told me yesterday that she had to turn down a wedding (big profit) so hopes we'll be doing plenty of drinking. I said I'd see what we could do :) Six weeks to go :) |

Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Noreen Date: 10 Mar 11 - 02:22 PM Hi, Dancing Ann- if you're asking 'do we dance at Mudcat gatherings', the answer is 'it has been known' :) It all depends who is going- in times past we have had gatherings in places with a hall where dancing could take place and a scratch ceili band got together to play for dancing- good fun. I don't think that is on the cards for this gathering though- probably music and singing sessions- and chatting- but again, it depends who is there. Does that answer your question? |
Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: Mrs.Duck Date: 10 Mar 11 - 11:45 AM Hope to see you there. |

Subject: RE: Possible Yorkshire Folk Gathering From: foggers Date: 09 Mar 11 - 02:59 AM Hello folks As penniless house renovation monkeys, a folk gathering is a welcomed break from concrete and joists. I will consult with my chief engineer and see if we will be deserving of a weekend off by May 13th, though I am not sure if the lack of showers could cause him to baulk (he is rather a fastidious boy!) At the very least I will bargain hard for a day pass! Jane |
