Well, more Mudcatters have met in the flesh. Duckboots and I, along with fellow Toronto Catters Tony Burns, Peter T., and Michael Miland had a nice brunch with travelin' "cat" Susan A & R and her husband Michael. Their friends Alan and Becca and Michael M's wife Linda joined us. Had a great time and Tony Burns coined a new phrase - "life creep". Thanks again Max. This is better than computer dating!

Rick

Ain't it great............Sounds like all of you had a fun time of it, and we look forward to meeting Susan at the FSGW.........And on our next trip up your way Rick, we'll try for some more advanced notice. I'd like to see Peter's "Waylon Heron."

Will you never leave this red heron alone, cp?
It was great --- Can you believe it -- a lovely day, meet Susan, Michael, Michael, Linda, Emma, Allan, see Tony, Rick, Heather, and then what -- back to work!! Sunday!!! Labour Day weekend!!! And there are Rick and catspaw, ponying up to the computer too. Ridiculous. Good lunch though, unless your were Belgian or had a couple of Hammond organs (lunch jokes, pay no attention).
yours, Peter T.

Peter T. I think Rick was using a laptop every time he left to use the washroom. For God's sakes man find something else o do with your hands. Take up the organ for instance. Linda & I had a great time today. That book we talked about was "Ireland, a Bicycle, and a Tin Whistle" by David A. Wilson. Well worth looking for. (Can I have an amen, Brother Rick, first among us in the Secret Anglican Guitar Society?) Michael

Yes! A great time with both new and old friends (the Montreal smoked meat was good too). Rick left one person off the list but Peter T. mentioned her. The most beautiful, pleasant, wonderful, charming female at the table, the sensational Emma. (She's 7 months. Excuse Grand-Dude for having a thing for little girls right now. He is really looking forward to his trip to visit Erica next Friday.)

No Peter, I'm sorry, but you'll be herring about this for some time to come. I know you're already so tired of heron it that you're waylon the blues, but from heron in it may be worse.

Care to explain S.A.G.S ?? I mean besides the obvious inference to Rick's genitals and Peter's spirit when he sees his future with the "Waylon Heron."

Sorry to barge in, but Tony, I just realized I referred to your grand-daughter as Erin in another thread. So sorry! :-)

Sounds like you all had fun. Isn't this computer thing great? I've only (sort of, not sure it counts if we're two feet away from each other on a dock all night and don't actually speak...) met one Mudcatter, Barry Finn, and that was before I found Mudcat.

I've belonged to many organisations in my life, but "secret Anglicans with guitars" ain't among them. I did however visit an Anglican Church folk music club a few times during my mis-spent youth. Imagine the depths a non-believing folkie would stoop to in order to meet girls!

Michael's mention of David Wilson's book is spot on. Simply the finest account of a musician searching Ireland for the music, I've ever come across. By the way Michael, I spent hardly ten minutes on the computer after the brunch. I DID however spend 4 hours on inlay cleaning, fingerboard oiling and new peg installing on my newly acquired instrument. (see Cheap guitar thread)

Thanks, Michael, look forward to reading it. I loved cycling through Ireland, except for the fact that it rained all the time, and I was nearly killed in a accident involving a truck, a ditch, and a long hill down to Waterford. I especially loved the Aran Islands and Connemara (no points for originality).
yours, Peter T.

Yes, I WAS there, along with the lovely Emma, among others mentioned above. I had a lovely time, aside from a small string inferiority complex. B'lieve that Michael and Rick held the day there.

Rick, I enjoyed the CD. Particularly Patrick Spencer and Come to Lower Canada. Nice ones.

Peter, I'm cleaning the jell-o out of the sad-o-metric. It should resurface almost as good as new at the tavern (well, it has a few quirks having to do with Doan Worry, Be Happy, but I'm doin' my best.)

Tony, have a great time in Seatle, being a grand dude.

Susan A-R

Hi 'nut, how are you doing. Let me recap the clues to your identity: Hey Jude in Grade 10, Harp player Song Circle & the Woods Bruce Cockburn Code name Deborah early childhood music

You could only be Tam Kearney. What do I win?

Michael (we'all are using code names) Miland

Rick

Is Raffi singular or plural? And is the adjectival form "raffish"? Small minds want to know.

susan, it's been recorded!

when i was a teenager somebody did a 45 of 'They're Coming to Take Me Away'. the flip side was the exact same thing recorded backwards. i loved listening to that little crazy record...both sides of it! _______________________________

no, peter, i'm nobody famous... michael and rick both know who i am; they're teasing me.

Has anyone ever noticed that songs sung in Gaelic sound like they're being played backwards on an old AR manual turntable...Wonder what they'd sound like playing forward?
