Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Bupkes Date: 19 Feb 11 - 12:37 PM Hoping some of the Gloucester folks, the "Ex-Cameronites" in exile from their recently closed pub home, will be coming up today. Marty |

Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: dwditty Date: 19 Feb 11 - 01:04 PM A couple of months ago, I went to the Press Room for the first time. I asked if anyone there might have known Barry Finn. Well, not only did some know him, they had photos etc. It is nice to know that Barry's spirit lives on in so many lives. I imagine the Shanty session tonight will bring him out once again. dw |
Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Jeri Date: 19 Feb 11 - 01:24 PM Barry's at all of 'em, DW. I went outside earlier. I'm not sure I want to do that again, but I'm considering it. It's around 32°F, with a wind chill I have determined by sensory comfort-ometer testing of around -103.09°F. |
Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Charley Noble Date: 19 Feb 11 - 09:33 PM Nice session. Well attended and everyone in good voice. I was not keeping notes on this one so hopefully Linn can fill in who sang what. I'm not even sure what I led: The Spectral Fishing Fleet Mobile Bay Lee Fore Brace Evening Shadows Fall West Indies Blues And maybe one other one... Was nice to hear Peter lead an instrumental version of Yangste River Shanty, well-paced and solid. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Bat Goddess Date: 20 Feb 11 - 10:36 AM I "kept the notes" (I guess one way or the other I'm the session secretary -- but I won't be at the March session!) I'll post the playlist later, after I'm home from work and, I hope, after the fierce (and COLD!) northwest wind ceases so I can type without mittens. Very good session -- including a new face from Cambridge, MA whose parents live in Hampton, so we'll probably see more of him. Linn |
Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Charley Noble Date: 20 Feb 11 - 12:29 PM Was the "new face" the fellow with the western hat? There was quite a headwind as I was making my way up the street from the parking lot. I almost didn't make it to the Press Room after being blown back twice. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Bat Goddess Date: 28 Feb 11 - 08:28 AM No, Charley, that was Jeff Keller. He's been there before and sometimes comes to the Friday sessions. The "new face" contacted Tom, I think, via PMFF website (and, thus, I can't at the moment recall what his screen name is), lives in Boston but his parents live in Hampton, NH so he gets up here reasonably often. As you can tell from the fact I haven't published the playlist yet, I've been busy this week. I'll get the song list up one of these days, I hope. Linn |

Subject: RE: Feb Shanty Session @ The Press Room (NH) From: Bat Goddess Date: 16 Mar 11 - 02:31 PM I've been remiss, but was just nudged by Ernie to finally get this posted. My excuse is I've been very busy and haven't had a chance to correct a couple song titles that my reference is on my other (not connected) computer. Please feel free to make the corrections!
