Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 Mar 11 - 08:16 AM We will be there (probably) but there were no available slots apart from after 7 over the road which would have meant crossing the road without a chicken and staying sober-ish until after 7 on the Saturday. |

Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 23 May 11 - 03:44 AM Or - in short - VERY WET from Fri 6 pm to Sat noon (about an inch and a half of rain in 18 hours) and pretty damned wet Sunday (well over half an inch of rain in 24 hours) |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 23 May 11 - 07:43 AM Oh - hang on. Metcheck has changed its mind again, and says that while there is not a lot of dry, as such, it's only WET from Thurs Midnight until Fri Noon, and even that is not biblical in proportion. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Girl Friday Date: 23 May 11 - 09:06 AM With any luck precipitation will hit, and penetrate the grass, soak into the water table and dissapear. Or it will roll downhill, to the bottom field - sorry People's Republic of Broadstairs. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 May 11 - 08:07 AM Wevva looking worse at Met-check today - starting on Weds, so the Brian Rodgers bog-driving trophy should be exciting. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 May 11 - 10:46 PM Met-check still predicting 32mm of rain between Fri Noon and Sun noon, and non-stop heavy or heavy-ish rain from midnight Tuesday to mid-day Monday. Hope it changes. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 May 11 - 02:59 AM Suddenly, between about 5 am and 8am (now, UK time) Met-check has changed its mind almost completely. Thurs trivial rain starting Noon, top temp a bare 16 degrees. Fri light rain all day, top temp 11 degrees (brrr) Sat light rain 'till noon, top temp 16 degrees Sunday dry but temp at 6 am only 5 degrees (BRRRRRRRRR) rising to 8 at noon and 12 at 6pm. |

Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Girl Friday Date: 27 May 11 - 10:38 AM Aaaargh!!! Stop it Melodeonboy..... he may know somethingn we don't.... |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 May 11 - 11:37 AM Very odd - while metcheck is now saying not too wet and indeed dry in parts, the "this week" bit shows temps in low to mid 20s, but the "next week" part ie Sat and Sun is showing daytime temps of about 10 degrees. I suspect a programming glitch. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: GUEST,Open Mic Date: 28 May 11 - 03:22 PM Sue Sorry for the delayed response re the Open Mic question - it needs to finish by around 5.30 to make sure there's time to set up for the evening concert. All - This year we're got wristbands to swap for your ticket on arrival. Can anyone prepared to do a stint on the ticket desk or CD sales tell the person they get their wristband from! We need more volunteers. Also - we'll give you a placci bag for your camping permit, please display it proudly on your tent or caravan. Mark Beech village hall is a lovely little additional venue - do stroll over to the Saturday evening song session and have a look. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 May 11 - 05:28 PM Metcheck now saying mostly tolerable, for as far as it can see without using the "more" button. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Waddon Pete Date: 29 May 11 - 01:30 PM That's the trouble with computer generated weather. You had proper weather in my young day! What you need is a nice length of seaweed. If you hang it outside the back door it will tell you what the weather is....when its wet, you know it's raining and when it's dry you know it isn't! Pig's Ear...the festival that is excellent whatever the weather! Best wishes, Peter |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 May 11 - 01:54 PM Metcheck currently saying dry or dry-ish until the small hours Sat/Sun then LOOK OUT. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: melodeonboy Date: 29 May 11 - 05:56 PM Hmm... we might have our beer blankets on by then! :) |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: GUEST Date: 29 May 11 - 06:15 PM Do we have no proper 'pagan morris' sides or 'weather witches' for Gaia's sake? No? Oh well, at the first sign of clouds simply grab the nearest folkie with a Unicorn tee shirt and stick them onto a bonfire. Old folk tradition (well not quite). It might not banish the rain clouds as such, but a bloody great bonfire is definitely warming when roughing it at a folk festival. Anyway Mr. Bridge, my web page says different to yours (sunny all week) so I think I'll simply keep looking at that and expecting the best.. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 30 May 11 - 01:14 AM Metcheck now saying dry and sunny at all relevant times - but not hot - and it's predicting fantastic winds but I've seen that programming error on it before. Met office still has only 5 days range but is saying dry and sunny too, with winds getting up but not as far as Metcheck predicts. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 31 May 11 - 10:03 AM Apparently still a bit wet and a bit windy Sunday. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Jun 11 - 02:17 AM Met office say fine, dry, a bit windy. Met check say fine and dry apart from a bit of rain (not a lot) from midnight Sat to noon Sun. I'm hoping to be on my way by 11 or 12 at the latest. |
Subject: RE: Piggies - Pig's Ear Folk Ale 2011 From: Richard Bridge Date: 05 Jun 11 - 11:50 AM The rain arrived on little cat feet at about 1030 today but got slowly a little heavier. But what a lovely weekend. |

By Sunday evening, had had enough, as not a dry bit of clothing to wear other than undies.... shiver...... much to Mr Leopard's disgruntlement, packed up and away, and home before dark on Sunday. |
